INTRODUCTION
The Office of Naval Research (ONR) Global acts as a two-way bridge from the
U.S. naval fleet and U.S. Marine Corps Forces, the Office of the Chief of Naval
Operations (OPNAV), the international science and technology (S&T) community, and
foreign military partners to ONR to the Naval Research Enterprise (NRE) and other
Department of Defense (DoD) and government agencies. From basic research to
technology transition, ONR Global supports the Department of the Navy’s (DoN)
full spectrum of Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) through its
Science Advisor, International Science, and International Liaison Offices. ONR Global
advances the discovery and delivery elements of ONR’s mission.

Rick Sams led the training sessions with the weapons platoon Marines to familiarize themselves with the
new technology. Using hands-on instruction, he demonstrated how to properly boresight and employ the
laser sight for maximum effectiveness. Once the laser sight was properly boresighted in conjunction with the
Marine Infantry Officer familiarizes himself mortar sight, it reduced the time needed to effectively engage targets in low-light conditions and gave positive
