Topic: Platonic love

Thesis: Is platonic love only include spiritual communication and rejects sensuality?

In this week's study, I studied what is Platonic love. In modern society, Platonic love is
what many people yearn for and pursue. Platonic love pursues spiritual communication and
rejects sensuality. But is he really just that?
Plato’s philosophical thinking is that all the senses and feelings are not the most real,
these things will change, and only the rational existence is the most real and everlasting.
Therefore, he highly advocates reason, but his love concept is overinterpreted by many people,
in fact, it is very simple to understand. The general meaning is he feels that love based on the
flesh is unreliable and cannot survive forever. Only spiritual love, the soul that loves each other
will not change. This flesh is not just about sensuality, but also appearance, body, everything
outside, etc., which can be felt by the senses, that is, it will always change. For example, your
lover is old, disfigured, and bankrupt. Most love will be more or less affected by this, but spiritual
love will not be so, it is almost not affected by anything. In general, Platonic love is a kind of love
that can't be influenced by anything, and the body is no longer important. Such love is extremely
rare, so it is called the ideal love model. The communication between soul and soul will naturally
not be limited to one body, (at all ages and genders are completely unimportant) This truly loves
that is worthy of praise.
Personally, I think that Platonic love will make people better. If a person's soul is empty,
not rich, and does not rise, then he will also drift away from his so-called soul mate. The
education level of modern people is getting higher and higher, whether you and your partner get
acquainted with similar tastes, or similar reading types, songs and so on. You may not be
similar people, there should always be something that resonates, and you can continue to
communicate in-depth. At least it can be seen from "The Symposium" that Socrates' admirers
are all convinced by Socrates' philosophical wisdom, and they are also very happy to discuss it
together. If a person does not improve himself through learning, reading, appreciating art, etc.,
he may not have a soul mate. Plato’s love cannot exist in such a spiritual world. So, in Plato’s
love, you may be willing to learn classical music only because of your partner likes. He will also
be able to study the Greek philosophy that you like for you. You give each other supplies, and
your spirit will More prosperous. Maybe you love and yourself are in the two places which are
separated, but the distance between the hearts is still close.
Finally, it ends with an excerpt from "The Symposium". At this point, Socrates's speech
is over: he gave us a concept: love is actually the process of finding true beauty. This kind of
love transcends what we call love, friendship, and affectionate love, to the height of loving all the
beauty in the world. As he mentioned in the middle: "Since all people always love the same
thing, why don't we say that all people are in love and that some people love and some people
don't?" "Because we are A type of love is proposed to add a common name, called love, and
use another name to refer to other love." (Plato, 212c)All he has to do is tell us what is loved by
everyone and what it is. That is the source of beauty, the beauty itself that never changes. But
we are often blinded by its shadow, indulging in the beauty of individuals, and losing the ability
to discover beauty.
