Communication in technology impacts on

the environment
Some of the ways communication in technology affects the environment is that the amount of energy
usage goes up. This means more electricity used the higher the electricity bill goes up therefore increasing the
price of living. Most people now have a computer or a cell phone. The more people who have these types of
technology the more demand for them. And they need power sources and more often than not our power
sources are coming from non-renewable. Some ways we can change this is making batteries in phones that have
better battery life and requires the same amount of charge. But we can also try to make improvements to the
ways we produce our energy sources.

Another way technology has impacts on the environment is the manufacturing and transportation.
There are no major phone manufacturers in the United States now. Apple’s IPhone is and the google pixel phone
are made in Asia. Samsung phones are primarily made in South Korea. So that means that there is a lot of
pollution that comes from transportation of phones to North America which is one of the biggest cellphone
markets in the world. The largest cell phone market in the world is china and the second largest is India.

The last way technology affects the environment is waste. The average American gets a new phone
every 24.7 months on average. But the phone should last a minimum of 2-3 years. So to help reduce the amount
of impact that technology has on the environment we should buy new phones less often than the average
American.
