Properly Horrified

sumary
In this chapter MS Lynd tells marila that the only reason she hasn't visited Anne
before is because she's been sick until now. Rachel Lynde arrives at Green
Gables, and after describing her illness to Marilla in great detail, she mentions
Anne. Marilla calls Anne to meet Mrs. Lynde. Anne arrives flushed from the
outside, still in her orphanage dress, with her hair all over the place. Lynde tells
Anne that the Cuthbert’s couldn't have chosen her for her looks. Anne does not
take it lying down. As expected, Marilla sends Anne to her room. But once Anne
leaves, Marilla tells Mrs. Lynde that she shouldn't have been so hard on her. She
has many sarcastic things to say to Marilla when she leaves the house outraged,
including the suggestion that Anne be hit with a switch as punishment. Anne
refuses, saying that she would rather be locked in a dungeon. Still, Marilla sticks
to her plan and tells Anne that she can't leave her room until she apologizes.

teachings

that we should be educated and say things with love and patience
when expressing our opinion because we can offend others. I also
learned that we should not be reckless and if we are going to speak ill
of another person it is better to keep your comments and opinions for
yourself.
The confrontation continues. Anne spends an entire day in her room, not wanting to
apologize. Seeing his dinner tray return almost intact, Matthew sneaks into Anne's
room and asks her to yield. Anne agrees and says she would do anything for
Matthew. When she sees Mrs. Lynde, Anne kneels before her and recites a
sincere apology, saying that it will be her "pain of a lifetime" if Mrs. Lynde does not
forgive her. Because when Anne does something, she agrees. Lynde says that
although Anne is strange, she sees why Marilla wanted to stay with her. She thinks
it is better to have a child with a quick-tempered temperament than to have a
cunning and cunning child. Anne is very happy on the way back.
