 “The Laundrette Attendant”
INTERTILE LEAVES SCREEN.
CCTV STATIC.

LAUNDRETTE STREET CCTV CAM 1.

MOOM has started working at a local LAUNDRETTE. There are rows
of WASHING MACHINES and DRYERS around the walls and back.
BENCHES are in the middle for customers to wait and clean
laundry can be seen hanging on rails. A POSTER is present the
background, advertising the VIDEO STORE. The sounds of
pedestrians can be heard, a subtle layer of static is notable
over the screen.

SFX: TRAFFIC and PEDESTRIANS.

INSIDE LAUNDRETTE CCTV CAM 2.

MOOM is seen to be stacking DETERGENT BOXES, ambient music can
be heard as well as the tinniness of MOOM’s music from his
HEADPHONES. The soft sound of WASHING MACHINES and DRYERS is
present.

SFX: AMBIENT MUSIC and HEADPHONES.

SFX: WASHING MACHINES WHIRLING.

INSIDE LAUNDRETTE CCTV CAM 3.

A closer view shows MOOM clumsily putting the display
together, his music somewhat louder from his HEADPHONES. MOOM
is gently bobbing away and not paying attention to what he is
doing.

INSIDE LAUNDRETTE CCTV CAM 4.

Focusing on MOOM’s face, we can see his frustrated expression
he has when realises last BOX will not fit into the display.

INSIDE LAUNDRETTE CCTV CAM 2.

MOOM starts looking around the LAUNDRETTE, trying to think of
a way to get rid of the last box. Worried at first, MOOM’S
expression changes when he sees the WASHING MACHINES not in
use. MOOM has an idea.

INSIDE LAUNDRETTE CCTV CAM 5.

Hurrying over, MOOM pours the DETERGENT into the WASHING
MACHINES and turns them on. He quickly hurrying out of sight.

SFX: WASHING MACHINES STARTING.

INSIDE LAUNDRETTE CCTV CAM 2.

MOOM is seen to wander off screen, content with his plan and
continues to busy himself. The WASHINE MACHINES begins to
swell, straining to contain the growing amount of FOAM. The
WASHING MACHINES begin to wander across the floor. The music
fits the changing situation.

SFX: METAL STRANING, BUBBLING.

INSIDE LAUNDRETTE CCTV CAM 3.

As the BUBBLES/FOAM increase in size, the WASHINE MACHINES
bounce. Gentle at first, then growing in erraticness. MOOM is
completely unaware of the situation and is still off screen.
(change to INSIDE LAUNDRETTE CCTV CAM 5 to show swelling
MACHINE)

SFX: METEL STRAINING and BUBBLING INCREASING, HEAVY BOUNCING

ON FLOOR.

LAUNDRETTE STREET CCTV CAM 1.

The WASHING MACHINES cannot hold anymore and burst open. A
tsunami of WATER and BUBBLES starts to fill the LAUNDRETTE,
soaking the DETERGENT DISPLAY.
SFX: METAL SPLITTING, WATER WHOOSHING AND SLOOSHING. INCREASED
BUBBLING.
INSIDE LAUNDRETTE CCTV CAM 3.
As the WATER and FOAM continues to rise, the DEGERNET DISPLAY
falls apart. The WATER dissolves the detergent, adding more
foam as the WATER swirls around. The sounds of clattering and
falling BOXES can be heard, the ambient music increasing in
emotion. The FRONT DOORS of the LAUNDRETTE burst open under
the pressure of WATER and FOAM. (switch to INSIDE LAUNDRETTE
CCTV CAM 5 to see the store filling up).

SFX: METAL DOOR BURSTING OPEN AND GLASS SHATTERING.

INSIDE LAUNDRETTE CCTV CAM 2.

MOOM emerges from the cascade, equipped with random luggage he
found when being swept into the Tsunami of water and bubbles.
With TENNIS RACKETS on his feet and SNORKEL, MOOM struggles to
move though the growing mountain of FOAM. His panic is evident
in his movements and face. A strong, howling wind rushes in
though the open doors of the LAUNDRETTE.

SFX: STRONG HOWLING WIND.

LAUNDRETTE STREET CCTV CAM 1.

As MOOM emerges from the chaos, he runs into his BOSS
returning from lunch. FOAM and WATER spills into the STREET
behind MOOM. His BOSS is at first stunned and then becomes
angry, firing MOOM.

SFX: PEDTESIAN CHATTER AND BOSS SHOUTING.
