● How might support teachers/paras see course content without being enrolled in each course?
● How do I show parents what is missing and can still be handed in for credit? We
usually check the missing box in Skyward.
● How can I record comments about an assignment grade, like the original score of a
test or who has made corrections for a retake?
● How do I “hide” grades for a short time while I am grading other student’s work?
Q: How do I know if a student has submitted/re-submitted work, once it has been
graded/flagged?
Answer:
Use the view filters in the gradebook.
Open a course’s gradebook and click on View from the menu above the grades.
Some filters you may find most helpful are Marked ‘Missing’ with Submission and
Graded with New Submission.
● Marked ‘Missing’ with Submission: Highlight individual cells that you've marked missing,
for which students have made a submission. Tip: After applying the view filter, click the
item icon to directly open the new submission.
● Graded With New Submission: Highlight all graded items for which the student
subsequently turned in another submission.
Ordering your gradebook so the most recent assignments are first can simplify the
teacher workflow.
Having a student email you about their late work is now optional, student choice, if
they want to let you know they have submitted late work.
Q: How might support teachers/paras see course content without being enrolled in each
course?
Answer:
Click on the Courses dropdown in Schoology > Click on See All in the lower right hand
corner.
Click on Course Listing to see all courses in your building(s).
For ease of navigating, click Hide archived courses, then search for the course in the
available pages. *Note: courses are listed in alpha order, so you can estimate and jump
pages if necessary.
Q: I have paper assignments or assignments without due dates (self-paced or student
completion, for example). How do I let parents and other supporting adults know not to
worry about a slash (--) for a grade?
Answer:
For clarity, please use parentheses at the end of the title of an assignment that is on
(paper) or (self-paced), so parents and other supporting adults can check in with the
student about the work, without assuming the work is missing.
