Good day, this mind map is for conceptualizing content: our context is a second-grade group
from public secondary school with 13 - 14 years old teenagers.
First of all, the surveys from the needs analysis showed that the students are more
interested in learning vocabulary from animals. Then, we checked the syllabus that was
provided by the teacher. The teacher told us that we could work with any topic on the
syllabus. Based on it, we decided to work with monologues, since it was the recent topic
they saw and related to it. Speaking and writing are going to be the skills to be worked in
class. Speaking skill is going to be use in the monologues, while writing for doing a draft of
their monologues.
In the monologues, students are going to solve problems and give suggestions about
environmental problems. As a topic we chose endangered animals.
As for grammar, we focus on modal verbs in order to prepare them to express suggestions,
possibilities and obligations.
Audiolingual and TPR approaches are going to be used because it was observed that
students tend to be hyperactive in their classes and these approaches provide the
opportunity to control student’s energy.
When we observed the class, we could notice that students were excited with dancing
activities and we consider that Tik Tok app could be a excellent resource for students
because it provide them resources to allow their creativity. Therefore, students will use this
app for recording their monologues.
