Tiger King Codes of Conventions report

In the first five minutes of Tiger King we see archived news footage. They talk about Joe
Exotic and what he has been doing. We see Joe Exotic being interviewed and he tells us how
he had started his exotic zoo named ‘Greater Wynnewood Exotic Zoo’ (a.k.a G.W Zoo) in
1999 Joe Exotic started building his zoo in a open field and over the past 16 years it has
grown into a gigantic zoo full of exotic animals but mainly he has exotic big cats.

When there is a interview the Code of Convention titling is shown as the documentary
introduces everybody’s name at the start of each interview in the episode. There is also
another Code of Convention which is voice overs which are used. For example Joe Exotic
tells a story about him as a little kid and while photos are being shown in the documentary a
voice over happens, of Joe Exotic saying how he was as a kid and what his life was like as a
child.

There’s slow motion shots of tigers running, a montage edit is shown of people in the G.W
Zoo playing with the cubs and baby cats, with joyful music being played to show the viewer
that there having a good time and that there enjoying there once in a life time experience.
What happens a lot in this episode is that there is a lot of suspenseful music being played to
create tension between character. Like when the tigers get released from there cages to eat
there massive piles of food and it goes into a slow motion shot of them running to make it
feel suspenseful for the viewer so this is another Code of Convention being showed.
