Applications > Simulator Manager > Configure Simulator window

General folder

This window allows the user to control parameters defined at the Simulator Parameter:

- Change the System Life

- Change the Number of Simulations

- Select the number of cores to run the simulation

- Toggles Maintenance Resource Modelling on and off

- Generate animation data

file:///C:/Users/Corrigo/AppData/Local/Temp/~hhA55C.htm 20/1/2020

Animation data
The Generate animation data for the period below” box allows the user to control the amount of
data generated for the Animation mode in the Asset view. Once the box is checked, the following
options become available:

- To specify the simulation cycle of interest use the drop down list. This contains only the
cycles scheduled to run.

- To specify the period of interest enter the start year and the end year. Note that the years do
not have to be integers, e.g. 0.5 to 1 will generate data for the second half of the first year.

If no animation data is required ensure that the Generate box is unchecked - this will also disable
the remaining controls.

Multi-core run
In MAROS it is possible to run a single project file on multiple processor cores by splitting out
the individual life cycles on separate cores in parallel.

Following the example below, if a Quad Core Processor (4 Cores) is available, the user can
choose the number of the cores to use to run the simulation.

file:///C:/Users/Corrigo/AppData/Local/Temp/~hhA55C.htm 20/1/2020
Simulator Manager Page 7 of 24

MAROS will automatically track the number of cores available from your computer. The user
has to select from the drop-down list the number of cores to be used during the simulation.

Upon completion of the run, MAROS will merge the results from the different run set.

Applications > Simulator Manager > Configure Simulator window

Detailed Output

The Detailed output window allows the user to control the resolution of the results. This is really
important as this will control the reporting interval for all the results. The default value is
30.41666 day which will produce results on a monthly basis. The user can change this to High
Resolution and see the results on a daily basis. The user can also define the time step.

Applications > Simulator Manager > Configure Simulator window

Diagnostic

The Diagnostic window enables the user to generate data for quality assessment on the
completion of the simulation.

The filtering options if for software support purpose and it will not be available for users.

The “Single cycle fixed sampling test mode” enables MAROS to run using a deterministic
approach. This method has two methodologies available:

- Sample from the statistical distributions and use the first sampled value to simulate the entire
life of the system

file:///C:/Users/Corrigo/AppData/Local/Temp/~hhA55C.htm 20/1/2020
Simulator Manager Page 9 of 24

- Use the mean value

This method is for testing purposes and the benefit is running the model with a great degree of
complexity but also predictability.

Applications > Simulator Manager

Operation

When Simulator Manager starts the simulation, an icon will be shown at Windows system tray
(when a simulation is running the tray icon will be animated).

It is possible to stop the simulation by right mouse-clicking on the icon to access the application
menu.

Applications > Simulator Manager

Simulation run

The simulator tracks the mean efficiency of the system over all the simulations. When operating
in large mode this data is displayed as a graph on the main window. This view is often useful to
determine the stability/convergence of the results.

There are two controls in this view, these are discussed below:

Stop: The stop command sends a request to the simulator to finish once the current simulation
cycle is complete. At the end of the cycle the simulator will complete the standard clean-up and
analysis phase and present the results so far.

Abort: The abort command sends a request to the simulator to finish immediately. No processing
is performed and the results so far are discarded.

file:///C:/Users/Corrigo/AppData/Local/Temp/~hhA55C.htm 20/1/2020
Simulator Manager Page 11 of 24

In addition, this dialog gives another two options:

- Display the progress status for each simulation which might degraded the simulation time

- Auto close the window on completion of the simulation run

Views

The Results Viewer can be used as part of MAROS or as a standalone application.

When run as part of MAROS, the Results Viewer will generate another two tabs at the top of the
software which will display a summary of the results and the all raw data generated on the
completion of the simulation process.

The interface of the Results Viewer when run as a standalone application is shown below:

Introduction

The “Info and Diagnostic” tool has been designed to assist clients on analysing problems with
installation of the application and models. This utility has two main purposes:

1. Analyse a Maros or Taro file to see what version the model file was saved with and the last
simulation engine version used. From the file menu select Analyse File.

2. It can help diagnose installation issues after a failed installation attempt. From the Tools
menu select Validate Installation and review the section where error messages are
explained. This diagnostic report can also be created and emailed from the File menu by
selecting Email Diagnostics.

This tool can be found under the following folder:

· Maros: C:\Program Files (x86)\DNVGL\Maros9”.

· Taro: “C:\Program Files (x86)\DNVGL\Taro”.

By selecting the executable file “InfoAndDiagnosticTool.exe”, the application will be initialised:
