HOW TO DEAL WITH DOUBT

• God has never removed the possibility of doubt because He wants us to rest our faith upon
EVIDENCE and not demonstration.
• His existence, character, and the truthfulness of His words are established by testimony that
appeals to our reason.
• God desires man to exercise his reasoning power, and the study of the bible will strengthen and
elevate the mind as no other study can.
• When studying the bible, we must have the simplicity and faith of a little child, ready to learn,
and beseeching the aid of the Holy Spirit.
• The power and wisdom of God and our inability to comprehend His greatness should inspire us
with HUMILITY.
• We should open the word of God with reverence and prayer. Our thoughts and affections must
be fixed upon God and in harmony with His will because when the mind is clouded with doubts
in the very study of the Bible, skepticism strengthens.
• Acknowledge that as finite beings, we cannot fully comprehend the great truths of the bible.
• But God is merciful. He does not leave us to figure things out ourselves. He made sure that the
bible unfolds truth with a simplicity and a perfect adaptation to the needs and longings of the
human heart.
• We have no reason to doubt God’s words even if we do not understand the mysteries of His
providence. Why? Because the world we live in is constantly surrounded with mysteries we
cannot fathom so do not be surprised to find that in the spiritual world, there are also mysteries
that we cannot fathom.
• Note this. If it were possible for created beings to attain to a full understanding of God and His
works,
➢ Man will no longer have further discovery of truths
➢ No growth in knowledge
➢ No further development of the mind and heart
➢ God will no longer be supreme and man will cease to advance.
• By faith, may we look beyond and grasp the promise of God for growth of intellect, our minds,
and hearts to be in unity with the divine, and our souls may be brought into intimate contact
with the source of light.
