Little Chaplet of the Holy Spirit

HOMAGE OF ADORATION TO THE PARACLETE IN HONOR OF HIS SEVEN GIFTS

It is sad to realize, and indeed only too true, that the Holy Spirit does not mean much in the
spiritual life of most Christians. Those who are genuinely devoted to Him are comparatively few.

That is undoubtedly a wide, a very wide gap in our Christian life. We are thereby deficient in
light and sanctity.

Let us reform! It is never too late! Here is a practical suggestion as to a simple, yet beautiful way
of honouring the Holy Spirit and drawing His sevenfold gifts upon us.

Let us endeavour to instill, in the very first place, the love of the Paraclete, as a strong and
doctrinal devotion suitable to the choicest among pious souls.

Let us, therefore, form the praiseworthy habit of reciting the Chaplet which is proposed here, as
homage to the Holy Spirit.

1. Kiss the cross then make the sign

2. Act of contrition
3. Say: Come Holy Spirit, enlighten my mind! Come inflame my heart!
4. The Apostles Creed
5. Glory Be…
6. The Our Father...
*Ejaculation: Father, Father, send us the promised Holy Spirit, through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
*Mystery (start with the first and so on the succeeding decade)

7. Say: Come Holy Spirit, fill our hearts and kindle in us the fire of Your Love. (Repeat on each
bead.) After the tenth bead, say: Send forth Your Spirit and we shall be created and You shall
renew the face of the earth.
8. Then recite the second decade and all the others in the same way 9beginning at no. 60: “Our
Father…”
9. After the seventh and last decade, say: Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of mercy, Hail our life, our
sweetness and our hope. To you do we cry poor banished children of Eve. To you do we send up
our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then most gracious advocate, thine
eyes of mercy towards us and after this our exile show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb of
Jesus, O Clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. Pray for us O Holy Mother of God that we may
be made worthy of the promises of Jesus Christ.
