Paragraph writing

What is paragraph?
A paragraph is defined as a group of sentences supporting
single main idea. The unity and coherence of ideas among
sentences is what constitutes a paragraph. They take the form
of a unit or block. The main idea that runs in a paragraph is
called “controlling ideas” because it controls what happens in
the rest of the paragraph.
Components of a paragraph
A paragraph has three main parts
1- Topic sentence
The most important sentence in a paragraph is the topic sentence.
The topic sentence is the first sentence in a paragraph.
It is called the topic sentence because it introduces the topic of the
paragraph and tells the reader that what the paragraph is about.
2- Supporting sentences
The second main part of a paragraph is supporting sentences. The
supporting sentences follow the topic sentence. They develop the
topic by explaining and providing details of the topic sentence. It
may use some examples as well.
3- Concluding sentence
The concluding sentence is the last line of a paragraph. It
summarizes the paragraph and may add a final comment or idea
from the writer.
It may also provide a logical conclusion based on the information
found in the supporting sentences.
