ALTONA NETBALL ASSOCIATION TO

CHANGE RULES AMID A SUCCESSFUL
SUPER NETBALL COMPETITION

(October 14th 2020 – Altona Meadows)

The committee of Altona Netball Association has voted in the Super Shot and Rolling
Substitutions to their Summer Season in January 2021 as a trial following the
successful introduction of these rules to the Suncorp Super Netball.

Altona Netball Association is the only league to have announced such rule changes
to their upcoming season. Diana Porter, the president of Altona Netball Association’s
committee, says this introduction will help prepare the players for the professional
league.

“This change is not only astronomical for our league but will be a big change for our
community as well,” Porter says.

"There are challenges at every level of implementing the Super Shot and rolling
subs. But I am sure the players and coaches will welcome this implementation, and I
hope we can provide adequate training for our umpires.

“2021 will be an exciting year for the association, new courts, new sponsorships and
now some new rules.

“We look forwards to the continued support from Netball Victoria and Netball
Australia in helping implement these rules into community sport.”

Marg Lind, coach of Altona’s VNL team City West Falcons, was part of the
committee to approve the change and is hopeful for a positive outcome.

"I would like to see more Altona players coming into the professional league, and I
think this is a great preparation tool for them," Marg says,

"I have been a coach in the area for almost 20 years, and these girls have got some
talent it just needs to be perfected."

Altona Netball Association is looking forward to the introduction of these rules after
not completing a 2020 season due to COVID-19 and renovations to Altona Sports
Centre. Altona Sports Centre recently completed building 5 new netball courts
following a grant of $12million from local government and Netball Victoria.
