Ravens tight end Nick Boyle suffered a severe knee injury in Sunday night’s 23-17 loss to the
New England Patriots and will miss the remainder of the season, coach John Harbaugh said.

Boyle was carted off the field in the third quarter after taking a shot to his left knee from a
New England defender. Players immediately started waving to the sideline to call for Boyle to
receive medical attention.

Boyle’s injury leaves the Ravens with just one true tight end on the roster, Mark Andrews.
The team opted to enter the season with just two true tight ends on its 53-man roster and use
fullback Patrick Ricard in a hybrid role.

“Injuries are a part of the game but it sucks to see Nick go down because he’s just a hard
worker and he’s a part of our run game, a big part of our run game and everything that we do
offensively,” wide receiver Willie Snead IV said.

The 27-year-old Boyle, a 2015 fifth-round pick by the Ravens, has 14 catches for 113 yards and
two touchdowns this season and is considered one of the top blockers at his position. He
signed a three-year contract extension worth a reported $18 million in 2019.

Boyle was the third Raven to leave the game Sunday night. Defensive tackle Brandon
Williams (ankle) and cornerback Terrell Bonds (knee) did not return.

“Everyone in this locker room loves [Boyle] to death, and he’s one of the most loved people on
this team,” tight end Mark Andrews said. “We’re going to miss him dearly. We know he has
our backs, and we have his. It’s just sad. It’s sad to see.”
