V. A. INTRODUCTION
 Today we will be writing in your Vocab Journals during small group time. Take them
out and turn to the next page blank page. We will be working on the word delighted
today. Who remembers what the word delighted means? You will be writing a
sentence about when you were delighted. What made you happy or excited?
Remember to stretch the sentence and I will help you. Second grade writing includes
detailed sentences.

B. LESSON DEVELOPMENT (ACTIVITIES, PROCEDURES)

 You could write something like “I was delighted when…” and tell us a time you were
delighted. Then stretch your sentence using where, when, or why.
 Guide students as they recall information about their lives using a vocab word and
write a sentence. Help students stretch their sentences.
 Students should be using a capital letter to start their sentences and a period to end
each sentence.
 When they are finished with their sentence and it’s approved, they can draw a
detailed picture describing the sentence. They must use lots of detail, and color in
everything on their paper, using lots of colors.

C. EVIDENCE OF DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION (CONTENT, PROCESS, PRODUCTS, OR LEARNING

ENVIRONMENT)
Product: Students will write a sentence using a vocabulary word, relating it to their own
lives. Products will vary for sentence and illustration.
