MWU Series NFC Poka-yoke Gate Light Module User’s Manual Ver.1.1

1. Overview
The MWU Series with NFC-enabled Poka-yoke gate light module is a light module with a gate mechanism
added to the conventional MWU series light module.
In addition to the conventional light module functions, it can drastically reduce picking errors by installing a gate
that opens and closes.
The control method of the gate section varies depending on the product type. Select according to your
application specifications.

Check if the connected devices are within the specification conditions shown in
this manual. Also, even if it is within the specifications, you may not be able to
use with equipment with an excessive inrush current. Make sure to evaluate
before using this product.

2.4.3 Adjust the Open and Close Gate Angle

Adjustment of opening and closing positions of the gate.
Adjustments can be made in the extended menu → refer to 5.4 Special Menu [F3] Open / Close Angle
Setting

* After installing the light module, be sure to set the fully open and fully close positions so that shelves and
items inside do not interfere with the gate.

If the power is turned on while the arm is at a position other than the open/close angle,
the gate may not operate. If it does not work, manually move the arm within the open and
close angle.

2.4.4 Adjust the Gate Shutting Delay Time

It is possible to adjust the delay time the gate closes from the opening position after pressing the
CONFIRM button.

Adjustments can be made in the extended menu. Refer to section 5.3 Special Menu [F2] Adjustment of the
Gate Shutting Delay Time.

The time can be set every 0.1 second from 0 to 25.5 seconds.
The default setting is 2 seconds.

The gate shutting time is the delay time after pressing the CONFIRM button. If the light
module receives the next operation instruction within the delay time, the next operation
instruction will be lit with the gate open.

2.5 Operation Check

Below is an explanation on how AIOI Systems’ software called Flowlight is used to check the operation.
Please refer to the following manual for details:

 Flowlight User’s Manual

(1) Launch Flowlight
Turn on the controller and junction box and start Flowlight.
After starting up, connect the PC to the controller by using Flowlight.

(2) Register the Address

Right-click the box under Light Module tab and select Add New.

Enter the address of the device you want to add.

*To add multiple units in sequence, use a hyphen; use commas to separate multiple addresses.

Addresses are displayed

19

(3) Communication Test

Select 6 light modules that you want to light up, right-click on the addresses, and select “Start Operation”.
The registered light modules will be lit.

The MWU2030FNSH consumes a large amount of current to open and close the gate. If
you send an operation instruction at the same time, do not exceed 6 units. If you want to
communicate with all light modules as communication aging test, set the mode to not
open / close the gate, and then send an operation instruction.
instruction command or send a work instruction every six units.

(4) Pressing the CONFIRM Button

When you press the CONFIRM button, the status becomes normal.
Make sure that the status of all light modules is normal after pressing the CONFIRM button.
If there is a malfunctioning device, check the address of this device.

20
MWU Series NFC Poka-yoke Gate Light Module User’s Manual Ver.1.1

(5) Confirm the Address

When the A command is sent, all the light modules will display the addresses.
You can confirm the address by pressing the CONFIRM button.
When you send the Z command, all the light modules will turn off.

3. Operation Methods
This section describes the operation commands and control methods to control the device.
For details, refer to the following manual.

 TW Series Command Reference Manual

Basic Operation of the MWU2030FNSH
In addition to the normal light module operation, the MWU2030FNSH can open and close the gate with the light module’s
gate open / close output.
The gate is opened by opening the gate output for the target light module from the application.

When the gate output is turned off, the gate closes after the delayed gate shut-off time (Factory setting: 2 seconds.)
Refer to the general control flow as shown below.

Send the operation instruction command

123
・ Open the gate according to the operation
instruction.
PiPi

・ Press the CONFIRM button to complete the

123
operation.

PiPi
Pi

・The light module turns off and the operation

completion is returned to the application.

・ After the light module is turned off, the gate

closes after the set time (factory setting: 2
seconds.)

END

The operation completion response to the application is performed after the CONFIRM
button is pressed. The gate shut-off operation, however, is performed after the delayed
gate shut-off time after the CONFIRM button is pressed. Send via the application the next
operation instruction by taking into consideration of receiving the operation completion
and delayed gate shut-off time.
If you send the next operation instruction without waiting for the closing operation, the
system will move to the next operation instruction with the gate open.
Opening and closing the gate requires a large current. Do not send operation instructions
(open/close operation) to more than 6 units at the same time to one junction box. If you
want to send work instructions to 6 or more units, send the operation instructions 6 units
at a time and wait at least 800ms between operation instructions provided there are no
malfunctioning gate opening and closing.

Notes on the Gate Operation

The operation completion reply to the application is performed after the CONFIRM button is pressed. However,
before pressing the CONFIRM button, set the delay time to close the gate.
Send the next operation instruction via the application by considering the gate closing delay time after receiving
the operation completion.
If you send the next operation instruction without waiting for the closing operation, the system will proceed to
the next operation instruction with the gate open.

When opening and closing the gate, large current is required. Do not send an operation instruction (open/close
operation) to more than 6 units simultaneously on one junction box. To send an operation instruction to 6 or
more units, send 6 units at a time and wait at least 800ms between operation instructions.

Also, if the Z command is sent while multiple units are open, the operation will switch to the close operation at
the same time, and the current consumption of the junction box may exceed the rated current. For this reason,
consider using the D command (light OFF command) to close no more than six units at a time so as not to
exceed the rating.

Release Mode / Open and Close Errors

The MWU2030FNSH has a release mode that can be used to unlock the gate.
In this mode, it is possible to operate the gate manually. It moves downward from the closed position by the
weight of the gate.
When returning from the release mode, the gate goes back to the close position.
When installing the gate, consider the position of the release mode.
