Rationale

Education is important in life. It is one of those things that help the students to

differentiate what is wrong and what is right. The government itself provides primary sources to

attain education by furnishing areas specifically educational institutions where people can easily

achieve education. Educational institution is an area where people of different ages gain an

education which provides a large variety of learning environments and learning spaces. It is not

only for testing mental ability but also for correcting, disciplining any forms of behavioral,

moral, and social problems being faced by the students. Nowadays, students didn’t value the

essence of education. Thus, it results to that of the school institutions becomes the “scapegoat”

for their problems. Consequently, professors, teachers, and school administrators must face and

shoulder all sorts of problems from their respective students. Such is considered as the most

burdensome for any school teachers and staff. The researcher knows that junior and senior high

level, is the stage where most of the students are beginning to be curious about life. This is where

they start to came out from their “comfort zone”, explore life and make their own decisions.

Skipping class is an act of pretending to go to school but actually taking part in other

uneducational activities. This is when truancy occurs, it is defined as the action of staying away

from school without good reason.

The sole purpose of the study is to determine the reasons why Junior and Senior Students

skip class. Researcher would like to know what triggers the students to do skipping class. The

reason why the researcher choose to conduct this study to Junior and Senior High Students is that

the researcher wants to compare the population of students in both level which skip class. The

researcher knew that in this way, this research inquiry might be a way to help the students value

the essence of education.
