REFLECTION:

PUBLIC SPEAKING

As a future educator, speaking in front of the public is a common scenario.

This topic widens my knowledge about public speaking. I realized that if you are
going to do public speaking, you should not just merely talk and talk but make
sure that you are connected with your audience and there is an interaction
happens. Upon doing so, you as the speaker must understand fully your topic for
you to share expertly to the audience. You should win over the crowd.
I also learned that public speaking can be delivered in different ways like
extemporaneous speaking, memorized speech, reading from a manuscript or the
impromptu. In extemporaneous speaking, one must deliver his idea about a
certain topic and he/she is given a short time to think the content of his/her
speech. In memorized speech, one will deliver his/her speech without looking in
his/her manuscript. In contrast with the memorized speech is the impromptu in
which the speaker will read from a manuscript for his/her speech.
Engaging public speaking is an inevitable event as an educator since a
teacher always manage a class during class hours. Therefore, it is very important
to be knowledgeable on the matter of public speaking.
Capable of being a confident public speaker can be an edge from other
people which might brought change in one’s life. It is really a great privilege to be
able to influence someone through public speaking. Anyone can be a public
speaker even during our daily lives where we tend not to notice that we are
already speaking in the public without our knowledge and it is because humans
have high intellect that can build different ideas in just a second and share these
ideas to the world allowing other people to criticize for the betterment.
