Suggested Activities
ACTIVITY 1: METHOD SELECTION
Among the given assessment methods, choose which one is most practical or efficient? Justify
your answer.
NOTE: Fundamentally, the choice of assessment method hinges on its appropriateness to achieve
the learning targets. Practicality and efficiency should not take precedence.

Factor Assessment Method Reason

Familiarity Selected- Constructed Teacher Self- Among the given
with the response response observation assessment assessment
method method,
constructed
response is the
most practical or
efficient with the
factor familiarity
with the method
since it will come
up with authentic
outcome
measuring the
deeper
understanding of
the students as
they construct
their own answer
toward a certain
question thus to
attain the
objectives
teacher must be
familiar with the
method
generating
questions that
will cultivate the
learner’s
understanding.
Familiarity Brief- Essay Performance Oral The most
with the constructed assessment questioning practical and
method response efficient
assessment
method
considering the
factor familiarity
with the method
is essay since the
teacher will think
of essay
questions that are
related to the
topic which will
make the
students to come
up with their
holistic
understanding. It
is easy to familiar
with the teacher
since she already
studied the topic
to be discuss
thus, she already
know what
questions to
generate.
Time required Selected- Constructed Teacher Self- Among the given
response response observation assessment assessment
methods, the
most practical
and efficient
assessment
method is
selected-response
considering the
factor, time
required because
students are
provided with
answers, only
thing they need
to do is choose
which one is
correct thus, they
can finish
quickly the test.
Time required Brief- Essay Performance Oral With the factor
constructed assessment questioning time required, the
response assessment
method which is
the most practical
and efficient is
brief-constructed
response as this
only require brief
but concise
response.
Teacher can do
sentence
completion, short
answer to open-
ended question or
labelling diagram
which paves the
way for valid and
reliable results to
be achieve
allowing students
to respond
readily but not
hastily.
Ease in Selected- Constructed Teacher Self- Among the given
administration response response observation assessment assessment, the
most practical
and reliable
assessment
considering the
factor, ease in
administration is
the selected
response since
the teacher will
just simply
instruct the
students to
choose one
correct answer in
multiple choice
question, true-
false or matching
type thus this
will minimize the
student to ask
question about
how to answer
the assessment
since they just
simply choose
one correct
answer based on
what the teacher
instruct them to
do.
Ease of Selected- Constructed Teacher Self- Selected-
scoring response response observation assessment response is the
most practical
and efficient
considering the
factor, ease of
scoring because
there is only one
correct answer
thus making the
teacher assesses
and scores the
student quickly.
Ease of Selected- Constructed Teacher Self- Considering the
interpretation response response observation assessment factor, ease of
interpretation, the
most practical
and efficient
assessment
method is the
self-assessment
because the
student will rate
and reflect their
own work thus
enable them to
monitor their
learning
progress.
Cost Selected- Constructed Teacher Self- Teacher
response response observation assessment observation is the
most practical
and efficient
assessment
method
considering the
factor, cost
because it does
not require any
expensive
material but only
the critical
thinking of the
teacher in
observing the
behavior of the
students and
measuring their
level of
understanding
through having
an on-going
assessment like
oral questioning.
With this, the
teacher can know
if his/her
teaching
strategies are
effective or not
thus making
him/her
implements new
strategies based
on her
observation.

From your answers, which among the assessment methods are most practical and efficient?
 Among the assessment methods from my answers, the most practical and efficient is
constructed response because it will measure the higher level of cognition of the students
as they will produce or create their own answer thus, making the assessments an
authentic one.
ACTIVITY 2: SCENARIOS
For each scenario, describe the assessment method in view of the factors of practicality and
efficiency.
Scenario 1 Ms. Rivera, a Science teacher, would like her students to create a video about
proper waste management, she looked into the strengths and limitations of
giving a performance task. She is used to giving projects to students, but she
has limited knowledge about educational technology. Except for the content,
she does not know how to grade the technical aspects of the video.
Familiarity Ms. Rivera is required to learn how to handle projects related to educational
with the technology, its grading system as she would serve as the source of
method knowledge. The teacher must know the advantage and disadvantage of the
said project, the possible problems the student might encounter and suggest
possible solution for that.
Time required Ms. Rivera requires the student to make a video. With this kind of activity,
time required is very essential as this will set the deadlines to when the
project must be passed so the students can manage their time in producing
the project. She must also consider the technicality of the project before
designating the specific date and time to be submitted.
Complexity of Creating a video involves technology thus it is a bit complicated with the
administration guidance of the instructor, the students will be able to manifest clear
understanding on how to do it.
Ease of scoring Video is an example of performance assessment which requires criteria to be
and followed in grading the activity unlike other assessment like selected
interpretation response in which is easy to score since there is only one correct answer.
Upon announcing the said activity, the teacher must let the students know the
criteria for judging for them to focus on aspects which need to be put more
effort. The teacher as well must interpret the scores of the student thus in the
scenario Ms. Rivera must be knowledgeable on how to grade the technical
aspects of the video.
Cost Creating a video does not require any expensive materials for it to be done
since we are the in the 21st century where almost all students have access in
mobile phone, what matters here is the effort invested to come up with an
amazing outcome or performance.

Scenario 2 Ms. Reyes, a Social Studies teacher, is preparing an assessment for her
Grade 6 class on the topic “Mga Hamon sa Kasarinlan”. For this topic,
students should be able to examine problems and challenges on
independence after the second world war. The teacher decides that essay
questions can appropriately measure student’ understanding about colonial
mentality and parity rights. She has almost 50 students and plan to return the
papers within three days.
Familiarity Ms. Reyes is aware of the learning outcomes of her activity as she knows
with the what appropriate method to be utilized where the students’ learning progress
method will be effective.
Time required The activity Ms. Reyes requires for her students need research about the
topic for them to come up with their possible opinion or perspective about it
thus three days are enough to comply the requirement.
Complexity of Ms. Reyes gives essay questions about the topic she chooses to elaborate and
administration to avoid confusion, she must give clear and understandable instruction,
giving the correct format of the essay to attain the desired output.
Ease of scoring Essay requires students to produce or create their own answers thus Ms.
and Reyes should create criteria in grading it as well as interpret the students’
interpretation learning progress which reflects their attained score.
Cost The activity does not require any expensive material, what matters here is the
application of understanding of the students on the said topic.
