Professional Experience
Forensic Technician
Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Atlanta, GA Dec. 2009 – Oct. 2010
Analyzed cartridge cases to acquire information using IBIS (Integrated Ballistics Identification System) to
determine if they are linked to a crime by comparing it to information in the National Integrated Ballistic
Information Network (NIBIN) ballistic imaging equipment.
Examined physical evidence associated with firearms cases, using microscopy, measuring devices,
photography and IBIS imagining techniques.
Test fire guns and enter their description into LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) which
is a database that we use to hold information about criminal cases. Use LIMS to pull criminal cases, print
labels for labeling evidence, research information on evidence and enter in ceasefire reports.
Managed criminal records by establishing and maintaining outside sources for information concerning
materials and items examined in IBIS casework to include the Standard Ammunition File and the
Cartridge Headstamp Identification Guide by contacting agencies such as police departments to verify
criminal cases and evidence.
Assisted firearms examiners in interpreting, analyzing and evaluating the results of IBIS and/or firearms
examinations.
Forensic Scientist
Quest Diagnostics, Atlanta, GA July 2006 – April 2009
Tested blood alcohol levels using Headspace GC (Gas Chromatography).
Performed calibration and validation of laboratory equipment and software.
Conducted maintenance on vacuum boxes and remove chemical waste for department.
Performed liquid and solid phase extractions to detect the metabolites of drugs from urine
and oral fluids.
Prepared extraction reagents and buffers to elute drugs from columns and ensured
reagents had the appropriate pH levels. Interpreted THC, Cocaine, and Amphetamines data.
Tuned and setup sample tables for GC/MS on the HP Chemstation program.
Extraction Technologist
Laboratory Corporation of America, Durham, NC April 2005-June 2006
Performed liquid and solid phase extractions to detect the metabolites of drugs from
urine.
Prepared extraction reagents to elute drugs from columns.
Conducted Thin Layer Chromatography Analysis (TLC) on previously extracted Medical
Professional samples.
Tuned and setup sample tables for GC/MS on the HP Chemstation program.
Performed calibration and validation of laboratory equipment and software.
Conducted maintenance and troubleshoot GC/MS instrument.
