8. Conclusion

In this thesis, various standards which are currently being developed for V2G communication
have been discussed. The major challenge posed is to make sure that the interests of all the
stakeholders are protected: OEMs, EV owner, charging station operator. Battery selection for
EV application hence becomes a crucial step and needs to be given its due. This would also
help reduce range anxiety for the EV driver.

Various methods for estimating the battery SoC are mentioned and a hardware system has
also been developed for estimating the SoC of a battery in real-time for V2G application.
Arduino Mega was used for the purpose of sensing the values from the sensors and to enable
the two way communication. ZigBee transceivers were also used to enable wireless
communication between the EV and the control station.

Method to establish a wireless network of multiple EVs controlled by a single control station
was mentioned in the end and some other avenues for future research were also mentioned.
