Seleucid king Antiochus Ephiphanes
profaned the Temple.

overthrew them.
๏ The Temple in Jerusalem was re-
dedicated to God
๏ In the temple they could only find one
small, sealed jug of olive oil that had

enough to last 1 day—miraculously
lasted 8 days.

made two trips from Jerusalem /

๏ The tour lasted 3 months and 20
days.
๏ Lazarus is raised from the dead—Jn 11
๏ Soon after arriving in Perea he was
told Lazarus was sick.
๏ Returned to Bethany.
๏ Lazarus had been dead for 4 days.
๏ Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead.
12. Lazarus is raised
๏ Lazarus’ sickness, death, and
resurrection give glory to God…
๏ “many of the Jews who had come
to visit Mary, and had seen what
Jesus did, believed in him” (Jn
11:45).
๏ The chief priests and Pharisees
plotted to kill Lazarus, because so
many witnesses to the miracle
believed in Jesus, John 12:9–11.
When all the people heard of Jesus’
arrival, they flocked to see him and also to
see Lazarus, the man Jesus had raised
from the dead. 10 Then the leading priests
decided to kill Lazarus, too, 11 for it was
because of him that many of the people
had deserted them and believed in Jesus.
๏ Returned to Perea and ministered.
๏ On the way back to Jerusalem he…
๏ Healed 10 lepers
๏ Healed Bartimaeus
๏ Met Zacchaeus

A student stood up and said,
“I have been given Luke 19:1-10. There are
three things I would like to point out about
Zacchaeus: I would like to say in the first
place, he was a little man and so am I. I
would remark in the second place, he was
up a tree and so am I. And I would
emphasize in the third place, he made haste
and came down and so will I.”
๏ He stopped at
the home of
Martha, Mary and
Lazarus in
Bethany.
