TOPICS ● COMPOSITION: GUIDED WRITING (PAPER 2).

LESSON OBJECTIVES ​ By the end of the week the students will be able to​:
● Follow the given instructions when doing a guided writing
composition.
● Organise the points to specific paragraphs.
● Use ​conjunctions​ and ​connectors​ (therefore, while, whereas,
etc) whenever necessary.
● Stay within the word limit, which is ​120 - 150 words​.

INSTRUCTIONS:
● WRITE DOWN YOUR COMPOSITION IN MICROSOFT WORD DOCUMENT.

● WRITE DOWN YOUR NAME AND CLASS AND THE DATE.

● FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE BOX BELOW:

1. Read the instructions on the exercise given on “Guided Writing” taken from a previous SPE
exam paper.
2. Open ​Microsoft Word Doc ​and write down your name, class and the date.
3. Before you start writing, set up the following settings:
○ FONT SIZE: ​12

○ FONT: ​Times New Roman

○ SPACING: ​1.5

○ JUSTIFY YOUR COMPOSITION: Click this:

4. Copy down the instructions​ before you start your composition.


5. Ensure that you write your composition in ​paragraphs and write down the total number of
words that you have done (​not less than 120 words, and ​not more than 150 words​) at the
end of your composition. A sample of how your composition should look will be shown
below.
6. Once you are done, go to ​File > Save As​. Save your compositon file according to the
following format: <YourName-7D-Composition-1>. Example: ​Huwaida-7D-Composition-1.
7. Once saved, go to your Teams and open the ​ASSIGNMENTS ​tab. Upload your composition
here.
8. The due date for this exercise is on or before​ Friday, 11th April, 2020 by 3pm.

Activity:

Guided Writing (10 marks): Write a composition of ​120 - 150 words​ on the following topic:

Your mother has to stay overseas for a month as part of her job. While she is away, all the
members of your family have been helping with the work at home, such as cooking, doing
the laundry and cleaning the house.

Write a letter to your mother. Include the following in your letter:


● Ask her how and what she is doing.
● How you feel about her being away.
● How the different members of the family are helping with the work at home.
● What you have been doing.
● Any other family news.

You may add ideas of your own. Begin your letter with “Dear Mom, …”
