Stage 1

Receiving is necessary for listening, because it is the beginning of communication which connects one
person to the other.

Stage 2

Attending in my opinion is the most significant for an effective listening, because in some cases the
“stage 1(receiving)” may not be as efficient as paying attention first before getting the information.

Stage 3

Understanding is simply interpreting what information you received, but it is critical in listening because
it demands proper studying in order to completely explain the given information.

Stage 4

Remembering is relevant in the listening process, described as fully memorizing or recalling the
instruction/info. In times you need it. But you occasionally need this when reciting in front of the class or
in examination.

Stage 5

Responding is important only when it’s performed in the proper time, because sometimes it does not
need to be done in listening.
