I was honored to be chosen the 2019-2020 chosen student for the Bartow County College and Career
Academy Optimistism Award. Every school in the bartow county chooses one student to represent there
school and be awarded the optimism award. You are nominated by your teachers and then chosen from your
prinicipal. This was a great year for me because I grew as a person and caame out of my shell. It brought great
joy to me and I made my parents even more proud. I have the most supportive parents who have pushed me
to work hard and go after what I want but have also shown me to be a compassionate person who helps
others not compare myself to them. I was so use to doing the right thing. Being a positive person and pushing
those around me to strive for success as well, this was what I knew. I never thought I was noticed or would be
recognized by my teachers and the principal of who I am as a person not only a student. I always chose to do
the right thing thinking no one noticed and it didn’t matter because at the end of the day I always chose to be
morally good for myself not for an audience. I made my parents the proudest but I made myself notice how
good of a person I was raised to be and strived to be naturally. I have always been so hard on myself to be
successful I never gave myself enough credit for all my successes as I should have. I am still waiting to be
awarded this award because of the pandemic but I’ve never been more proud of myself. I’ve grown to be
more positive to myself like I am to those around me. Since I have always been so hard on myself I’ve grown to
go easy on myself and be happy for successes. I’ve grown in my confidence in myself and I’m not afraid. No
one at this point can bring me down or make me feel less. I know who I am as a person and I know who I can
be because of my character and work drive. I am beyond grateful for the opportunities the Bartow County
College and Career Academy has offered me through out three years of my highschool experience. It has
helped shaped me as a person and step out of my comfort zone and be an even more amazing student and
person.
