Weekly Reflection

Griffin Molino

Sept. 14

This was the first full week of school, although we were still on a hybrid schedule it still

was my first full week of class. I think the students would rather go back full time as they seem

like they are a bit bored and we really are not able to get through a ton of material in class.

Wednesday’s are virtual days and we tried giving the students work, to which we received a lot

of incomplete assignments. I think as time goes on the students will get better with working on

school stuff outside of school, but it will definitely be a work in progress.

In terms of my teaching, I watch my mentor teacher teach the history lessons on

Monday and Thursday for the first two periods, which for American History is periods 2 and 5. I

then teach the rest of those days which are periods 6, 7 and 8. On Tuesday’s and Friday’s I

teach all five American History classes. I did not expect to be jumping right into teaching so

quickly, as my mentor teacher and I talked about taking a week or two to observe and practice

by teaching a class here and there. However, he has helped instill confidence in me by

encouraging me to teach, and helping me out along the way with small tips on what I can do

better, while also telling me what I am doing well. Although I am essentially just teaching his

lessons and have nothing to focus on other than classroom management skills, I think that this

will help me a lot when I start making my own lessons plans because I will already have all of

the classroom management skills ironed out.
