You are on page 1of 1

You cross the bumpy rail road tracks as you enter the town of Lake George.

You
instantly feel the weight of life lifted off your shoulders, and all your problems seem to
momentarily disappear. The tall trees surrounding the road create a tunnel and there is
nothing to see but green. Then the trees open up, and you see the shiny glimmer of the
sun reflecting off the lake water.

As you pull into the driveway and feel the shake of the car as it goes over the uneven and
rocky driveway you see a small green cottage. One that I would call a second home. An
instant smile is brought to my face because I know of all the good times had and great
times to come.

When you walk out the back door, leading to the lake, the chipmunks running across the
yard catch you eye. They always run in the same direction, away from the neighbors
because they know Gord is not fond of them. There has been many mornings waking up
to the chirping of the chipmunks and the loud echo of Gord’s voice yelling at them.

As you walk, or sometimes even stumble down the hill to reach the lake. The warm sand
gets in between your toes and you can feel the grains surround you feet. Then the cold
water hits and instantly refreshes you.

As you walk across the dock you can feel the rough wood underneath your feet. The dock
has been well loved, after many years of children and dogs jumping off the end. Next to
the dock you see the beautiful red MasterCraft X9. You start it up and can hear the
wonderful hum of the engine.

After the day on the lake day is done you walk back up to the house. Food is already in
the oven, and you know because of the wonderful scents that fill up the whole house. We
dine all together with our entire “lake family.” Many laughs are exchanged and everyone
is smiling by the time the meal is finished.

Dinner is done and everyone knows it’s time for the fire to be lit. Everyone begins
wrapping themselves in their many layers because the temperature drops significantly at
night. Bug spray is in the air, and the sound of country music is being played across the
lake. The night is coming to a close.

After many hours around the fire, and everyone makes their trip home it’s time to close
up. You pour water over the fire and can hear the hiss if the flame dying. You turn out the
lights, lock up the house, and get ready to walk out the door the next morning to do it all
over again.
