Mastiksha Swacchta Abhiyaan A self-driven campaign for purifying mind

and thoughts - By Srishti Sobti, Btech 3rd year ”To achieve purity of
mind, one should cultivate the constant awareness by being mindful all
the time. One should remain always aware of one’s thoughts.” - Rama
Swami While the cleanliness of surroundings is an essential and much
required thing now-a-days, purity of mind and thoughts are as
necessary for the personal growth and good mental health. To reach at
a point of self-realization where anger, ego, greed, lust and envy have
no impact on one’s actions is a state of purity of mind. The road to this
path starts right from the present moment. Analyse yourself, who do
you envy? What makes you angry? What do you want so desperately
and why?. Be it in school, college or office, there is always someone we
envy because of their better work or their abilities to win people, in a
hope that we might get their spot. Then ask yourself is it worth loosing
your mental peace over things and people that exist around you and
have no idea about your negative thoughts. You might be able to find
your answer but still if you are not able to know that there are four
types of thoughts you should know about- Positive, necessary, negative
and unnecessary. The positive and necessary thoughts are required
while the other two are to be thrown out of the mind and the life. This
might not look easy but once we are able to categorise our thoughts, we

can save lot of our energy from getting wasted into unworthy things.
Our mental states influence our circumstances and together they create
the experience we call life. Positive thoughts lead to positive states of
mind, bringing us their good rewards. Negative thoughts influence us in
the negative ways, bringing us pain and suffering, subjecting our minds
to destructive thoughts and distracting emotions and reducing our
ability to think normally and function effectively. An idle life is a product
of morbid and useless thoughts. A mind ignited by the power of
imagination and the desire to achieve finds very little value in
harbouring idle thoughts. When matched with corresponding effort and
enthusiasm, it can lead to greatness, transcendence and abundance. By
changing the style of thinking and beliefs, we can overcome the
limitations of our mind and circumstances and hence, can achieve an
expanded state of mind. Our mind is the key to our success and
progress. It is the powerhouse of our thoughts and beliefs. It is where
our dreams and ideas take shape. Hidden in it are our immense
potentials and unknown possibilities. And achieving all of these is not
possible when one is surrounded by negative values such as anger,
greed etc. In order to know how to manage our own thoughts to
achieve desired results, we need to transcend our ordinariness and
bring discipline into our uncertain life. When there are problems and
difficulties, we won’t not feel paralyzed by our own fears and self-
deprecating thoughts. We need to have an edge over those who
surrender to their weaknesses rather than to their strengths and reach
our own goals with conviction, strength and confidence. When we
energize our actions with our thoughts, determination, clarity and a
clear purpose, we can unleash our mind’s immense power to manifest
and to turn our dreams into reality. As we increase our ability to reach
our goals with purpose filled and pointed actions, we get one step closer
to success. While maintaining personal hygiene and cleanliness in the
surroundings is of primary importance we should not forget that
maintaining purity of mind and thoughts is equally essential to live a
happy and contented life.
