Physical geography - Physical geography is the branch of natural science which


deals with the study of processes and patterns in the natural environment such as
the atmosphere, climate etc.

Examples of physical geography:

 geomorphology
 hydrology
 glaciology
 biogeography
 climatology
 meteorology
 palaeogeography
 oceanography
 coastal geography
 environmental geography.

Human geography - Human geography is the branch of geography that deals with


humans and their communities, cultures, economies, and interactions with the
environment by studying their relations with and across locations.

Examples of human geography:

 urbanism
 population
 health
 economies
 politics
 culture
 histories
 settlement.
Insolation - incident solar radiation onto some object.

Question: Why do we need to study geography?

Ans: To understand basic physical systems that affect everyday life (e.g. earth-sun
relationships, water cycles, wind and ocean currents).
