Part B: Rationale
The study of mathematics is very important in the scientific and practical life.
Therefore, teachers must focus on the method of teaching that helps students
in easy understanding and comprehension. In the math lessons that I prepared,
I focused on learning children to count from number 1 to 10 and the second
lesson was to teach children how to recognize and compare small and large
sizes.
I thought and researched a lot to get an interesting and varied lesson plan for
students. First, I focused on making the introduction very enthusiastic and
attracting students to the lesson, for example in the counting lesson, the
students listened to the number song and imitated movements as well , so here
I got an initial movement that makes the students more active with me as it
improves their motor skills. I also adopted in the introduction of the second
lesson in an attempt to stimulate the student’s thinking through drawing,
realistic tools, and asking questions. For example drawing shapes of different
sizes on the board and bringing tools of different sizes that the student touches
and compares them with other shapes in terms of size. This is also helps
students to use their sensory skills thr ough touch.
The difference in activities is very important for the student not to feel bored
and also for education to cover all levels. I tried to make each activity
different from the other to develop different skills for the child, for example,
movement activities for the whole body, activities that stimulate thinking,
and others to develop sensory skills and hand skills.
