Practical Geometry Problems in AutoCAD

Problem 1. Beginning at Point A make a drawing of the template. Scale: Full

Size. Do not dimension.

Hint: Avoid a common mistake; the overall height is 2 3/4", but the outside
height is NOT. You may have an easier time typing in decimal equivalents in
AutoCAD.

Problem 2. Beginning at Point A, make a CAD drawing of the stencil. Scale: Full Size. Do
not include dimensions.

Hint: Use the copy command. You should never have to repeat steps in a CAD
program. Also, draw the middle "H" shape outside of the area, and then move it
into the middle afterward.

Problem 3: Beginning at point A, make a drawing of the inlay. Scale: Full Size. Do not
include dimensions.

Hint: The object consists only of two squares and two rectangles. Don't
worry about crossing the lines--we will trim them out last.

Problem 4: Draw the Template as shown. Scale: Full Size. Do not

include annotation.

Hint: Just because the required angle has a certain value, that does NOT mean
that is the number that you provide to AutoCAD. Use construction lines to get a
perpendicular reference line. At the end, point L will be located just a little under
your starting point at A.

Problem 5: Make a drawing of the shearing blank, starting with Point A. Full Scale. Do not
include annotation.

Hint: Use construction lines and the dimensions to create a space to draw in. In
other words--we know 12" is the width, so begin with two vertical construction
lines 12" apart from one another.

Problem 6: Make a drawing of the Bracket, starting with Point A. Full Scale. Do
not include annotation.

Hint: Begin by finding the location of the center of the holes. Then draw all circles
at these locations. Afterward, make Tangent lines by right clicking while in the
Line Command.

Problem 7: Make a drawing of the Pawl, starting with Point A. Full Scale. Do not
include annotation.

Hint: Begin by making circles that represent the top and the bottom of the object.
These should be 5.5" away from one another. Then work your way around
clockwise.

Problem 8: Make a drawing of the Carburetor Gasket. Full Scale. Do not include
annotation.

Hint: Begin by making crossed construction lines. From the center, measure half
of the distances indicated by the dimensions to locate the centers of all required
geometry.

annotation.
