One of the importance of assessment in making instructional decision is the teachers

can determine what knowledge, skills, abilities, habits, or attitudes have been acquired. Other
than that, the teachers can also identify the progress of the learning by the pupils. The teachers
can always get the latest results of pupils’ performance in the learning process. Authentic
assessment is a form of assessment in which students are asked to perform real-world tasks
that demonstrate meaningful application of essential knowledge and skills. This assessment
usually includes a task for students to perform and a rubric by which their performance on the
task will be evaluated. For me, this is important because it requires students to make their their
own answer to questions rather than select from given options as in multiple choice items, and
requires them to use a range of higher order thinking skills (HOTS). The teacher can ask the
pupils to do written assignment or portfolios in this test. Thus, the pupils can use their
knowledge and think critically in order to complete the task.
