CHAPTER 5 Using Trading Floor
Features

Considering its usage and users, Matrix EON74 offers following features which are specially designed for the
trading environment.

• Except Dual Handsets and Pagination, all other Trading Floor Features resembles features of
ETERNITY. In this chapter, we have provided brief feature description and steps to use a few of these
features. If you want detailed feature explanation, you must refer the respective feature in the
ETERNITY System Manual. To know where to find the relevant information, see “Related
Documentation” in the Introduction.

• You can use both Left Handset and Right Handset for accessing the features and facilities of EON74.
However, instructions for using the features are provided with reference to the Left Handset throughout
this User Guide.

Dual Handsets
EON74 has dual handsets, identified as Left Handset and Right Handset. The dual handsets allows you to
converse with two different customers simultaneously and that too without using conference. You can connect
handsets and headsets into the respective ports, on each side.

You can select the Left Handset and the Right Handset with the Left Selection Key and the Right Selection Key
respectively. By default, the Left Handset is selected.

If the Left Handset is already active then directly dial out the digits. To dial out a number from the Right Handset,
press the Right Selection Key first before dialing a number or pressing any key.

If the Right Handset is active and you want to dial out a number from the Left Handset, press the Left Selection Key

You can use headset instead of handset by plugging the headset and the mike in the respective connectors. During
an ongoing speech, you may toggle between the Speaker and the Handset/Headset and vice versa using the
Speaker Key.

Pagination
Pagination is a typical trading feature of EON74. Pagination allows you to assign more features/functions to keys
than the number of keys available to you. You can use the Pagination Keys for Quick Dials and one-touch access
to the features and facilities.

Matrix EON74 User Guide 35

Each page of EON74 has 16 Pagination Keys, showing 16 key assignments at a time. You can assign, in all, 48 (16
keys x 3 pages) features/facilities in the three pages of 16 keys each. You can change the page using Page Keys
(Page1, Page2, Page3), without any interference with the existing calls and operations.

All 16 Pagination Keys are equipped with LEDs and removable transparent caps for the replaceable key labels.
The LED of the selected page will glow.

You can configure EON74 such that the keys of each page have different key assignments; for example, Hotline
Keys and Quick Dial Keys for accessing trunk lines on Page 1, Quick Dial Keys for calling clients and other
extension phones on Page 2, frequently accessed features/facilities on Page 3.

You can also configure EON74 such that certain keys of all three pages are assigned the same features, whereas
the remaining keys have a different assignment on each page; for example, you can assign Call Taping to Key 1,
Barge In to Key 2, Emergency Dialing to Key 3, on all three pages and assign different features/functions to other
keys on each page.

Decide your Pagination Key assignment, and ask your System Engineer to configure the Pagination Keys
according to your requirement.

Call Hold
EON74 has two Hold Keys, one for each handset. You can put the call of Left Handset and Right Handset on Hold
by using Left Hold Key and Right Hold Key respectively. When you put a call on hold, the LED of the Hold Key will
be turned on.

Call Hold feature enables you to put an ongoing conversation (with an internal or external number) on hold.
ETERNITY supports three types of Call Hold: Exclusive Hold, Global Hold, Consultation Hold.

• Exclusive Hold: An ongoing conversation is put on hold from EON74 and is retrieved from the same
EON74 that put it on hold.

• Global Hold: An ongoing conversation is put on hold from EON74 and is retrieved from another EON74
connected to the ETERNITY.

• Consultation Hold: An ongoing conversation is put on hold in order to perform further activity, such as
Call Transfer, Conference, Call Toggle.

• Using the Left Hold Key and Right Hold Key, you can put the remote party either on Exclusive Hold or
Global Hold. If you want to put the remote party on Consultation Hold, you must use the Transfer Key.

Dial by Name
You can make outgoing calls to persons/organizations by dialing their names instead of numbers. Thus, you do not
have to remember telephone numbers of your customers.

The database for names used in Dial by Name is drawn from:

• the Personal Directory, which is assigned to each EON74, wherein up to 25 external party numbers along
with their names may stored.

• the Global Directory of ETERNITY, which is assigned to EON74 in its Class of Service (COS). The Global
Directory is a system-wide list of external party numbers and names. Up to 900 numbers can be stored in
this directory, and parts of the Global Directory (Part 1, 2, 3) can be assigned to each EON74 in its Class of
Service.

To use this feature, make sure the names and numbers of the frequently called parties have been configured in the
Personal/Global directory of the ETERNITY. To know more about the Personal directory and the Global directory,

The call history of each of the above types of calls is stored by Name, Number, Date, Time of the Call. The Call
Logs contain details of both internal as well as external calls made or received by the EON74 users.

The maximum number of calls that can be stored under each Call Log type is 20. The logs will be cleared
automatically using the First-In First-Out method, that is, the latest call detail will replace the record of the oldest
call detail.

Using Call Logs you can:

• view the call history: you can see the calls you missed, answered or dialed.
• make calls: you can call any number that you have missed, answered, or dialed.
• edit the numbers: you can change or modify the number in the Call Log.
This is useful when the CLI received and stored in the call log is not in the same format that is to be used
to make calls.

informed about the conference and put on Consultation Hold. The number of the second person one wishes to talk
to is dialed. When the second person answers, s/he is informed about the conference. Three-way speech is
established by pressing the Conference Key.

Barge-In
Barge-In allows you to break into an ongoing conversation between two extension users or, between an extension
user and a remote party.

ETERNITY offers flexibility to allow/deny Barge-In feature to the extension users. It also provides the flexibility to
prevent conversations of the extension users from being barged in, referred to as Privacy against Barge-In.

To know more about this feature, see Barge-In under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System Manual.

To use Barge-In, when the dialed extension is busy:

Call Forward
You can forward your calls to another extension, an external number, Voice Mail or a Department Group, when you
are away from your desk and do not want to miss calls landing on your EON74.

ETERNITY offers the following forwarding options:

• Unconditionally - calls are forwarded to the destination phone number automatically without waiting for a
response from the called party's phone.

• If Busy - calls are forwarded to the destination phone number, when the called party's phone is busy.

• If No Reply - calls are forwarded to the destination phone number, when the called party does not answer
the phone.

• If Busy or No Reply - calls are forwarded to the destination phone number when the called party's phone
is either busy or does not reply.

• Dual Ring - when calls are forwarded to another phone number. Both phones, that is, the source phone
(whose calls are forwarded) as well as the destination phone (on which calls are forwarded) will ring. You
can answer from either extension.

Dual Ring is useful to those who may have to be present at two different places frequently. As it is
cumbersome to forward the calls from one extension to another and cancel it repeatedly, you can set Dual
Ring, so that you can attend to your calls at either place.

system applies the Toll Control Level set for your extension.

• Toll Control - Level 0 is based on Time Zone, wherein the Call Privilege Type must be defined for each
Time Zone, that is, Working Hours, Break Hours and Non-Working Hours.

For instance, you may define All Calls as Call Privilege for Working Hours, Local Calls as Call Privilege
for Break Hours and No Calls as Call Privilege for Non-Working Hours. By default, Call Privilege All Calls
is selected for all three Time Zones.

• Toll Control - Level 1 is not based on Time Zones. By default, the Call Privilege Type for this level is
Local Calls.

• Toll Control - Level 2 is not based on Time Zones. By default, the Call Privilege Type set for this level is
National Calls.

• Toll Control - Level 3 is not based on Time Zones. By default, the Call Privilege Type set for this level is
No Calls.

The System Engineer can redefine the Call Privilege for each of the above Toll Control Levels according to the user
requirements. Toll Control feature forms the basis of Dynamic Lock.

To know more about this feature, see Toll Control under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System
Manual.

Dynamic Lock
Dynamic Lock allows you to change the Toll Control Levels (Calling Permissions) of your extension on your own.
With this feature, you can prevent misuse of outgoing call facility from your extension in your absence.

As described above in Toll Control, there are four types of Toll Control Levels (0 to 3), that can be set on your
phone. For each Toll Control Level, a Call Privilege Type is set by the System Engineer. You will have the calling
permissions as defined in the Toll Control Levels set for your extension.

56 Matrix EON74 User Guide

If you have Dynamic Lock feature enabled in your Class of Service, you can change the Toll Control Level set for
your extension. You can change Toll Control Level in two ways:

• Manually: you can change the Toll Control Level of your extension whenever you want using the “Phone
Menu” or by dialing the feature access code (141).

• Automatically: you can change the Toll Control Level of your extension for the period of Dynamic Lock
Timer. You can set this Timer to the desired number of minutes. On the expiry of this Timer, the system
restores the original Toll Control Level assigned to your extension.

The changing of Toll Control level requires you to dial the 4-digit User Password. The system will not
accept the default User Password (1111). You must first change the default User Password. For
instructions for changing User Password, see “User Password”.

To know more about this feature, see Dynamic Lock under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System
Manual.

You can set Dynamic Lock—Manual and Automatic— from your own extension. You must first set the Dynamic
Lock Timer and then change the Dynamic Lock Level. To set Dynamic Lock-Manual, you must set the Dynamic
Lock Timer to 00.

Recall that,

• When the Dynamic Lock-Manual is set (Timer set to 00), you must restore the previous Toll Control
Level manually using Phone Menu or by dialing the feature access code (141).

• When Dynamic Lock-Automatic is set (Timer set to desired number of minutes), the system will restore
the previous Toll Control Level at the end of the Timer.

You can set/cancel Dynamic Lock and change the Dynamic Lock Timer using the Phone Menu also. See “Phone
Menu”.

Hotline
The Hotline feature connects the EON74 user immediately to a particular number or trunk, on going Off Hook.

You can set Hotline to connect immediately to another extension, to a Department Group, to an external number or
to an outgoing trunk.

Hotline set for external numbers and outgoing trunks is referred to as Hot Outward Dialing.

ETERNITY offers two types of Hotline/Hot Outward Dialing:

• Immediate: As soon as the EON74 user goes Off Hook, s/he gets connected to the desired hotline
extension number, department group, external number, or outgoing trunk. For this the Hotline Timer must
be set to 00 seconds (default: 3 seconds).

• Delayed: When the EON74 user goes Off Hook, the system plays Dial Tone and waits for the Hotline
Timer (default: 3 seconds). On the expiry of this timer, it connects the EON74 user to the desired hotline
extension number, department group, external number or outgoing trunk.

To know more about this feature, see Hotline under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System Manual.

To set Hotline for an Extension/Department Group:

Interrupt Request (IR)

Using Interrupt Request feature, you can break into an on-going conversation of other extension users after
intimating them about the interruption.

Interrupt Request works only,

• if the dialed extension is busy. The dialed extension may be busy with another extension or trunk (external
number).
• if the user about to be interrupted is in a two-way normal speech with another extension user or an external
party.

Interrupt Request will not work if the busy signal is due to the user being Off-hook, or in the middle of dialing, or
accessing a feature of ETERNITY. Also, if Privacy against Interrupt Request is enabled for an extension, it cannot
be interrupted.

To know more about this feature, see Interrupt Request under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System
Manual.

When the dialed extension is busy:

• Press the DSS Key assigned to Interrupt Request.
• You will get the Ring Back Tone and the dialed extension will get beeps.
• Called extension answers the call - you will be in speech with the called extension.
Or
• Called extension does not answer the call - your call will be disconnected.

Last Caller Recall

ETERNITY offers a facility—Last Caller Recall— to trace the extension that last made the call to your extension
(EON74).

To know more about this feature, see Last Caller Recall under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System
Manual.

To make a call to the last caller:

• Press the DSS Key assigned to Last Caller Recall.
• The system will dial out the extension number that last called your extension.

Live Call Supervision
Using Live Call Supervision, you can know the last external number dialed by another extension, when that
extension is in speech with an external party.

To know more about this feature, see Live Call Supervision under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY
System Manual.

To supervise a live call:

• Press the DSS Key assigned to Live Call Supervision.
• Enter the Extension number to be supervised.
• The last external number dialed by the extension being supervised appears on the LCD.

Paging
Paging allows you to make announcements to a group of extension users and public announcements over a Public
Address System (PAS). This feature enables you to deliver a message to a mass of people at once.

ETERNITY supports two types of paging:

• Internal Paging: Announcements are made on the extensions (DKP/Extended IP Phone) of ETERNITY.
• External Paging: Announcements are made on a Public Address System (PAS) connected to the Analog
Output Port of ETERNITY.

For both types of Paging, the extensions which are to be paged and the Analog Output Port to which the PAS is
connected must be included in 'Page Zones'.

You can page any Digital Key Phones, Extended IP Phones or Open SIP Phones. The Open SIP Phones on which
you are paging must support Call-Info or Alert-Info header for Paging. Paging is a one-way communication. As the
mic of the paged extensions is muted during Paging, the users of the paged extensions cannot reply back to the
paging extension.

To know more about this feature, see Paging under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System Manual.

To make an announcement:
• Press the DSS Key assigned to Paging.
• Enter the Page Zone Number.
• Make your announcement.
• Press the On Hook Key at the end of your announcement.

Meet Me Paging
While a Paging announcement is being made, any extension user of ETERNITY can get connected to the Paging
extension, by dialing the Meet Me Paging feature code (1093) and the number of the Paging extension.

Paging is an announcement made to a group of extensions within a Page zone. Extension users, (including those
who are outside the Page zone) who want to use Meet Me Paging to answer the Paging call, must know the
number of the Paging extension.

Meet Me Paging can be used only if the Paging call is active. Therefore, extension users who are paging must keep
their call active, if they want their call to be answered using Meet Me Paging.

To know more about this feature, see Meet Me Paging under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System
Manual.

60 Matrix EON74 User Guide

To answer a Paging call, while the announcement is being made:
• Press the DSS Key assigned to Meet Me Paging.
• Dial the number of the paging extension.
• You will be connected to the Paging extension user.

Mute
Mute helps you to disconnect the speech transmission path in the middle of a conversation. However, you can still
listen to the opposite party because the receiving path remains connected. This feature is useful when you want to
consult someone in the middle of a conversation, but do not want the opposite party to listen to your discussion.
You can Mute a call before making a call or during speech.

To know more about this feature, see Mute under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System Manual.

To use this feature, ask your System Engineer to configure the DSS Key for Mute.

To mute a call before making the call:

• Press the DSS Key assigned to Mute.
• Confirmation Tone.
• Dial the desired number.

To mute a call during speech:

• Press the DSS Key assigned to Mute during speech.

To resume an outgoing speech:

• Press the DSS Key assigned to Mute again.

Raid
Raid allows you to interrupt a telephone conversation between two extension users or an extension user and an
external caller, turning the conversation into a three-way call. You may choose to play warning beeps to the
extension user, when you raid and enter into a three-way speech.

Raid works only if the dialed extension is busy in a two-way speech. The two-way speech may be with another
extension or with an external number on a trunk. You cannot Raid on Trunks, that is, the external number which is
in a two-way speech with an extension.

Raid will not work if Privacy against Raid is enabled in the Class of Service of the extension being raided. See
Privacy under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System Manual for more details.

The extension using Raid must have higher Priority assigned to it than the extension being raided. See Priority
under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System Manual for more details.

To know more about this feature, see Raid under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System Manual.

When the dialed extension is busy:

• Press the DSS Key assigned to Raid.
• 3-way speech is established.
