To use this feature, make sure the names and numbers of the frequently called parties have been configured in the
Personal/Global directory of the ETERNITY. To know more about the Personal directory and the Global directory,
see Abbreviated Dialing under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System Manual.
To know more about this feature, see Dial by Name under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System
Manual.
User Password
You can protect your EON74 from an unauthorized use with the User Password. User Password is a 4-digit code.
The default User Password is 1111. You can change the User Password to any desired value, not exceeding 4
digits.
In case the extension (EON74) user forgets the password, it can be cleared and restored to the default value 1111
by the System Engineer. For instructions, see System Security - V10R11 and later in the ETERNITY System
Manual.
The User Password is also required to access and use certain features of ETERNITY, which are listed below.
• Call Follow Me
• Dynamic Lock
• Direct Inward System Access (DISA)
• Walk-In Class of Service
• User Absent/Present
• Hot Desk
• Phone Settings
The extension user must change the default password for all the above listed features except: Phone Settings,
Mailbox of Voice mail.
The User Password for an extension can be changed only from that extension phone. Since the Mailbox can be
accessed using the default User Password, extension users who are assigned a mailbox are recommended to
change their User Password to prevent unauthorized access to their mailbox.
To know more about this feature, see User Password under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System
Manual.
• Enter the Current User Password. Enter the default User Password, if not changed.
You will be prompted to Enter the New User Password.
User Status
You may sometimes want to leave your desk and do not want to set Call Forward or Do Not Disturb. In such cases,
incoming calls will continue to land on your EON74 and will go unanswered.
With the User Status (Absent/Present) feature, you can set User Absent on your phone. By doing so, you can block
all incoming external as well as internal calls from landing on your EON74. When you return to your desk, you can
set User Present and start receiving incoming calls again.
When you set User Absent, the top right corner of the LCD of your EON74 will display letter A.
To know more about this feature, see User Absent/Present under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY
System Manual.
To change the User Status, you need to dial the 4-digit User Password. The system will not accept the
default User Password (1111). You must first change the default User Password. For instructions, see
“User Password”
You can change the User Status using the Phone Menu also. See “Phone Menu”.
Using Privacy On, you can restrict other agents from intruding into your ongoing conversation. Privacy On feature is
applicable only on the ongoing call on which it is set.
When a call which has Privacy turned on is put on hold, ETERNITY will treat it as Exclusive hold even if the
default Call Hold Type is set as Global hold in the System Parameters.
To set Privacy:
• During an ongoing call, press the Privacy Key. The Privacy Key LED will turn on.
To cancel Privacy:
• During an ongoing call, press the Privacy Key again. The Privacy Key LED will turn off.
When you set Auto Call Back, the LED of the Call Back Key will glow.
To know more about this feature, see Auto Call Back under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System
Manual.
Voice Mail
EON74 has a Voice Mail Key to access the Voice Mail System of ETERNITY. To be able to use Voice Mail, there
must be a Voice Mail System card installed in the ETERNITY and your EON74 must be assigned a mailbox.
See Configuring DKP Extensions under Configuring ETERNITY in the ETERNITY System Manual for
assigning a mailbox to your EON74.
The callers can record and leave a message in your mailbox, when you are not available/not responding. When
someone leaves a message in your mailbox, the LED of the Voice Mail Key will glow. You can retrieve this
message by accessing the mailbox.
To know more about the Voice Mail features, see Voice Mail Features in the ETERNITY System Manual.
Call Logs
EON74 stores the details of following types of calls in the Call Log:
• Missed calls
• Answered calls
• Dialed calls
The call history of each of the above types of calls is stored by Name, Number, Date, Time of the Call. The Call
Logs contain details of both internal as well as external calls made or received by the EON74 users.
The maximum number of calls that can be stored under each Call Log type is 20. The logs will be cleared
automatically using the First-In First-Out method, that is, the latest call detail will replace the record of the oldest
call detail.
To know more about this feature, see Call Logs under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System Manual.
You can also view the Call Logs using the Phone Menu. See “Phone Menu”.
Whenever there is a missed call, the LED of the Call Logs Key will glow. When you press the Call Logs Key, EON74
will display the last missed call details.
Redial
You can make a call to the last dialed number using the Redial feature.
To know more about this feature, see Last Number Redial under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY
System Manual.
To use Redial:
• Lift the Handset.
• Press the Redial Key.
• The list of dialed numbers appear on the LCD.
• Scroll to select the desired number.
• Press the Enter Key.
• The number will be out dialed.
Auto Redial
The Auto Redial feature retries dialing out a number automatically, if the dialed number is busy. It repeatedly
checks the busy line till it is free. When the called number becomes free, it rings.
To know more about this feature, see Auto Redial under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System
Manual.
Call Toggle
Using Call Toggle, you can talk to two different persons alternately on the same handset. Call Toggle is also
referred to as Call Splitting.
To know more about this feature, see Call Toggle under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System
Manual.
Conference 3-Party
Conference-3 Party (also referred to as Three-Way Calling) is a telephone call, in which the calling party can have
two other persons participating in the call.
A 3-Party Conference is initiated by dialing the number of the first person one wishes to talk to. The first person is
informed about the conference and put on Consultation Hold. The number of the second person one wishes to talk
to is dialed. When the second person answers, s/he is informed about the conference. Three-way speech is
established by pressing the Conference Key.
An established two-way speech can be converted into a conference by adding a second person, without
disconnecting the call with the first person. Thus, a 3-Party Conference may be planned or conducted on the spur
of the moment.
When the Conference is established, the Conference Key LED will glow continuously and you will get a
message “Conference” on your phone display.
Conference Dial-In
Dial-In Conference is a multi-party conference held at a pre-defined time. You can schedule a Dial-In
Conference and inform other participants to join in the conference at the scheduled time. If you want to use this
feature, make sure a DSS Key has been configured for Dial-In Conference. See “Customizing EON74 Key Map”.
To know more about this feature, see Conference Dial-In under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY
System Manual.
After the Dial-In Conference has been initiated, it functions as a Multiparty Conference. Any participant can
be Included, Removed, Temporarily Leave, Rejoin the Conference or Permanently Leave the Conference.
See Conference Multiparty below.
Any participant in a Multiparty Conference can Include a party, Remove a party, Leave conference temporarily,
Rejoin the conference or Cancel a conference.
To know more about this feature, see Conference Multiparty under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY
System Manual.
To rejoin Conference:
• Press the DSS Key assigned to Temporarily Leave/Rejoin Conference.
Or
• Press the Conference Key.
Release Calls
You can disconnect the ongoing calls of EON74 either using the On Hook Key or the Release Key.
ON Hook Keys: EON74 has two On Hook Keys, one for each handset. You must use the Left On Hook Key to
disconnect all the calls present on the Left Handset and the Right On Hook Key to disconnect all the calls present
on the Right Handset.
Release Key: EON74 has one Release Key, which can be used to release the current call present on the selected
handset. If two or more active calls are present on the selected handset and you want to disconnect only the
current call you are in speech with, you must use the Release Key.
Call Answer
You can answer an incoming call in two ways:
• pressing DSS Key assigned to trunk/extensions.
• pressing the Answer Key.
If you are using the Answer Key to answer an incoming call and there are more than one incoming calls, the call
having the highest priority will be answered. Priority is the precedence given to trunks and extensions over others in
being answered. To know more about priority, see Priority under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY
System Manual.
Call Answer feature enables you to quickly answer the incoming call during high call traffic. This feature of EON74
saves your time and effort for answering the call. The incoming call will be answered as per the last
mode—Handset, Headset, Speaker—selected for receiving or making the call.
Or
• DSS Call Pick-Up-Trunk - incoming calls on any trunk, for any extension can be picked-up by pressing
the Key assigned to that trunk.
• You can pick up calls ringing on other Extensions or Trunks only when the calls are in ringing state.
• If multiple calls are ringing on an extension/trunk, when you press the DSS Key assigned to that
extension/trunk, you will be connected to the ringing call with the highest priority. See Priority feature
in ETERNITY System Manual.
To know more about this feature, see DSS Call Pick-Up under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System
Manual.
Call Transfer
Call Transfer enables you to relocate an existing call from an extension or external number to another extension or
to an external number. Calls can be transferred after notifying the other extension/external number about the
transfer or can be transferred directly without any notification.
• Call Transfer - Screened: The EON74 user puts the ongoing call on Consultation Hold, dials the desired
party's number, and informs the desired party of the impending transfer. If the desired party chooses to
accept the call, the call is transferred.
• Call Transfer - While Ringing: The EON74 user puts the ongoing call on Consultation Hold, dials the
desired party's number and transfers the call when the desired party's extension starts ringing.
This feature is used when the EON74 user have another waiting call and he/she cannot wait for the
desired party to answer.
• Call Transfer - On Busy: The EON74 user puts the ongoing call on Consultation Hold, dials the desired
party's number and transfers the call even if the desired party is busy in speech with another person. The
busy extension gets intrusion tone and can choose to answer the intruding (transferred) call.
• Call Transfer - Trunk-to-Trunk: The EON74 user can transfer one external call to another trunk line. The
EON74 user puts the external caller on Consultation Hold, dials the desired party's number, and transfers
the call after or without notifying the desired party of the impending transfer.
• Blind Transfer to Voice Mail: The EON74 user puts the caller on Consultation Hold, dials the feature
access code for Blind Transfer to Voice Mail, dials the desired party's number, and transfers the call. The
call is transferred to the mailbox assigned to the desired party. The caller may leave a message in the
mailbox.
To know more about this feature, see Call Transfer under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System
Manual.
• EON74 supports all the subscriber features of ETERNITY. We have given brief feature description and
steps to use these features in this chapter. However, if you want detailed feature explanation, you must
refer ETERNITY System Manual. To know where to find the relevant information, see “Related
Documentation”.
• You can use both Left Handset and Right Handset for accessing the features and facilities of EON74.
However, instructions for using the features are provided with reference to the Left Handset throughout
this User Guide.
• We recommend you to make a list of features you want to use and ask your System Engineer to assign
a DSS Key to all those features. For instructions, see“Customizing EON74 Key Map”.
Auto Answer
Auto Answer allows you to answer incoming calls without any manual interventions. This feature is very useful in
trading business as in such establishments the volume of calls is very high. It saves the effort of picking up the
handset or pressing the Speaker Key repeatedly.
To know more about this feature, see Auto Answer under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System
Manual.
To set/cancel Auto Answer using ETERNITY Jeeves (GUI), see Configuring DKP Extensions under Configuring
ETERNITY in the ETERNITY System Manual.
Barge-In
Barge-In allows you to break into an ongoing conversation between two extension users or, between an extension
user and a remote party.
ETERNITY offers flexibility to allow/deny Barge-In feature to the extension users. It also provides the flexibility to
prevent conversations of the extension users from being barged in, referred to as Privacy against Barge-In.
To know more about this feature, see Barge-In under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System Manual.
Call Forward
You can forward your calls to another extension, an external number, Voice Mail or a Department Group, when you
are away from your desk and do not want to miss calls landing on your EON74.
• If Busy - calls are forwarded to the destination phone number, when the called party's phone is busy.
• If No Reply - calls are forwarded to the destination phone number, when the called party does not answer
the phone.
• If Busy or No Reply - calls are forwarded to the destination phone number when the called party's phone
is either busy or does not reply.
• Dual Ring - when calls are forwarded to another phone number. Both phones, that is, the source phone
(whose calls are forwarded) as well as the destination phone (on which calls are forwarded) will ring. You
can answer from either extension.
Dual Ring is useful to those who may have to be present at two different places frequently. As it is
cumbersome to forward the calls from one extension to another and cancel it repeatedly, you can set Dual
Ring, so that you can attend to your calls at either place.
You can also set/cancel Call Forward using the Phone Menu. See “Phone Menu”.
Call Pick-Up
Call Pick-Up allows you to answer calls ringing on other extensions from your EON74; without physically going to
the ringing extensions. You can pick up both internal and trunk calls ringing on other extensions.
• Call Pick-Up - Selective - calls ringing on any extension of the system can be answered.
To know more about this feature, see Call Pick Up under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System
Manual.
Conversation Recording
Conversation Recording allows you to record your talk with other extension users or external parties, after or
without informing the opposite party.
This feature can be used to record verbal agreements, important discussions, instructions, interviews, client
requirements, take or place orders.
For this feature to work, a VMS Card must be installed in ETERNITY and your Extension (EON74) must be
assigned a mailbox for recording conversations.
To know more about this feature, see Conversation Recording under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY
System Manual.
To record a conversation:
• You are in speech with another extension/external number.
• Press the DSS Key assigned to Conversation Recording.
• You will get beeps (if enabled).
• Speech with party re-established.
• Recording starts.
• Press the On Hook Key, after conversation ends.
To know more, see Cancel All Station Features under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System
Manual.
2. Conversations are recorded as New Messages. So, follow the voice mail prompts for listening to New Messages.
Department Call
Department Call enables you to group together extensions in a particular department so that callers can reach
anyone in the department by dialing a common access code assigned to the department.
Calls made to such groups of extensions are called Department Calls and the Access Code used to make a
Department Call is called Department Number.
Callers can also reach individual extensions in a Department Group by dialing the extension number.
ETERNITY supports the formation of 16 Department Groups. Each Department Group can also be assigned a
mailbox for voice mail, which any member extension can access. Each Department Group can forward its calls to
an extension or to its voice mail, or to another Department Group.
To know more, see Department Call under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System Manual.
When there is a new message in the Department Group mailbox, the LED of the Voice Mail Key will glow. To
access the Department Group mailbox:
• Press the Voice Mail Key.
• VMS informs you about new message(s) in your Department Group mailbox and Personal Mailbox.
• Follow Voice Mail prompts to access Department Group mailbox.
• You will be able to listen the messages.
• Press the On Hook Key to disconnect.
You can also forward calls of your Department Group to an extension or a voice mail.
To know more about this feature, see Do Not Disturb under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System
Manual.
To set DND:
• Press the DSS Key assigned to DND.
• Scroll to select desired DND message from the list.
• Do Not Disturb

• With a Guest
• Press the Enter Key.
• Confirmation Tone.
• Press the On Hook Key.
To cancel DND:
• Press the DSS Key assigned to DND again.
• Confirmation Tone.
• Press the On Hook Key.
You can also set/cancel DND using the Phone Menu. See “Phone Menu”.
Toll Control
Toll Control feature enables the System Engineer to configure ETERNITY in such a way that each of its extension
users can be assigned different calling permissions referred to as Call Privilege.
• Local Calls: Dialing of outgoing calls to Local area numbers, in addition to internal calls, is allowed. It is
possible to restrict calls to certain local numbers. For this Call Privilege Type, System Engineer must
configure the Local Numbers list.
• Regional Calls: Dialing of outgoing calls to regional numbers is allowed, in addition to internal and local
calls. It is possible to restrict calls to certain regions. For this Call Privilege Type, System Engineer must
configure the Regional Numbers list.
• International Calls: Dialing of international numbers is allowed, in addition to local area, long distance
and internal numbers. You can also restrict calls to certain countries. For this Call Privilege type, System
Engineer must configure the International Numbers list.
• All Calls: Dialing of all types of numbers - local, regional, national, international- is allowed, without any
restriction.
• Limited Calls: Dialing of only specific Telephone numbers (local, regional, national or international) is
allowed. By applying this Call Privilege Type, you can allow and restrict dialing of telephone numbers
starting with a particular digit, or a particular area code. For this Call Privilege type, System Engineer must
configure a list of the Limited Numbers that are to be allowed or denied. You can configure three such
Limited Numbers lists.
• Toll Control - Level 0 is based on Time Zone, wherein the Call Privilege Type must be defined for each
Time Zone, that is, Working Hours, Break Hours and Non-Working Hours.
For instance, you may define All Calls as Call Privilege for Working Hours, Local Calls as Call Privilege
for Break Hours and No Calls as Call Privilege for Non-Working Hours. By default, Call Privilege All Calls
is selected for all three Time Zones.
• Toll Control - Level 1 is not based on Time Zones. By default, the Call Privilege Type for this level is
Local Calls.
• Toll Control - Level 2 is not based on Time Zones. By default, the Call Privilege Type set for this level is
National Calls.
• Toll Control - Level 3 is not based on Time Zones. By default, the Call Privilege Type set for this level is
No Calls.
The System Engineer can redefine the Call Privilege for each of the above Toll Control Levels according to the user
requirements. Toll Control feature forms the basis of Dynamic Lock.
To know more about this feature, see Toll Control under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System
Manual.
Dynamic Lock
Dynamic Lock allows you to change the Toll Control Levels (Calling Permissions) of your extension on your own.
With this feature, you can prevent misuse of outgoing call facility from your extension in your absence.
As described above in Toll Control, there are four types of Toll Control Levels (0 to 3), that can be set on your
phone. For each Toll Control Level, a Call Privilege Type is set by the System Engineer. You will have the calling
permissions as defined in the Toll Control Levels set for your extension.
• Manually: you can change the Toll Control Level of your extension whenever you want using the “Phone
Menu” or by dialing the feature access code (141).
• Automatically: you can change the Toll Control Level of your extension for the period of Dynamic Lock
Timer. You can set this Timer to the desired number of minutes. On the expiry of this Timer, the system
restores the original Toll Control Level assigned to your extension.
The changing of Toll Control level requires you to dial the 4-digit User Password. The system will not
accept the default User Password (1111). You must first change the default User Password. For
instructions for changing User Password, see “User Password”.
To know more about this feature, see Dynamic Lock under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System
Manual.
You can set Dynamic Lock—Manual and Automatic— from your own extension. You must first set the Dynamic
Lock Timer and then change the Dynamic Lock Level. To set Dynamic Lock-Manual, you must set the Dynamic
Lock Timer to 00.
• When the Dynamic Lock-Manual is set (Timer set to 00), you must restore the previous Toll Control
Level manually using Phone Menu or by dialing the feature access code (141).
• When Dynamic Lock-Automatic is set (Timer set to desired number of minutes), the system will restore
the previous Toll Control Level at the end of the Timer.
You can set/cancel Dynamic Lock and change the Dynamic Lock Timer using the Phone Menu also. See “Phone
Menu”.
Hotline
The Hotline feature connects the EON74 user immediately to a particular number or trunk, on going Off Hook.
You can set Hotline to connect immediately to another extension, to a Department Group, to an external number or
to an outgoing trunk.
Hotline set for external numbers and outgoing trunks is referred to as Hot Outward Dialing.
• Delayed: When the EON74 user goes Off Hook, the system plays Dial Tone and waits for the Hotline
Timer (default: 3 seconds). On the expiry of this timer, it connects the EON74 user to the desired hotline
extension number, department group, external number or outgoing trunk.
To know more about this feature, see Hotline under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System Manual.
You can also set/cancel Hotline using the Phone Menu. See “Phone Menu”.
Interrupt Request will not work if the busy signal is due to the user being Off-hook, or in the middle of dialing, or
accessing a feature of ETERNITY. Also, if Privacy against Interrupt Request is enabled for an extension, it cannot
be interrupted.
To know more about this feature, see Interrupt Request under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System
Manual.
To know more about this feature, see Last Caller Recall under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System
Manual.
To know more about this feature, see Live Call Supervision under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY
System Manual.
Paging
Paging allows you to make announcements to a group of extension users and public announcements over a Public
Address System (PAS). This feature enables you to deliver a message to a mass of people at once.
For both types of Paging, the extensions which are to be paged and the Analog Output Port to which the PAS is
connected must be included in 'Page Zones'.
You can page any Digital Key Phones, Extended IP Phones or Open SIP Phones. The Open SIP Phones on which
you are paging must support Call-Info or Alert-Info header for Paging. Paging is a one-way communication. As the
mic of the paged extensions is muted during Paging, the users of the paged extensions cannot reply back to the
paging extension.
To know more about this feature, see Paging under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System Manual.
To make an announcement:
• Press the DSS Key assigned to Paging.
• Enter the Page Zone Number.
• Make your announcement.
• Press the On Hook Key at the end of your announcement.
Meet Me Paging
While a Paging announcement is being made, any extension user of ETERNITY can get connected to the Paging
extension, by dialing the Meet Me Paging feature code (1093) and the number of the Paging extension.
Paging is an announcement made to a group of extensions within a Page zone. Extension users, (including those
who are outside the Page zone) who want to use Meet Me Paging to answer the Paging call, must know the
number of the Paging extension.
Meet Me Paging can be used only if the Paging call is active. Therefore, extension users who are paging must keep
their call active, if they want their call to be answered using Meet Me Paging.
To know more about this feature, see Meet Me Paging under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System
Manual.
Mute
Mute helps you to disconnect the speech transmission path in the middle of a conversation. However, you can still
listen to the opposite party because the receiving path remains connected. This feature is useful when you want to
consult someone in the middle of a conversation, but do not want the opposite party to listen to your discussion.
You can Mute a call before making a call or during speech.
To know more about this feature, see Mute under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System Manual.
To use this feature, ask your System Engineer to configure the DSS Key for Mute.
Raid
Raid allows you to interrupt a telephone conversation between two extension users or an extension user and an
external caller, turning the conversation into a three-way call. You may choose to play warning beeps to the
extension user, when you raid and enter into a three-way speech.
Raid works only if the dialed extension is busy in a two-way speech. The two-way speech may be with another
extension or with an external number on a trunk. You cannot Raid on Trunks, that is, the external number which is
in a two-way speech with an extension.
Raid will not work if Privacy against Raid is enabled in the Class of Service of the extension being raided. See
Privacy under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System Manual for more details.
The extension using Raid must have higher Priority assigned to it than the extension being raided. See Priority
under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System Manual for more details.
To know more about this feature, see Raid under Features and Facilities in the ETERNITY System Manual.
