 I am seeking high critical care pay for my current position as an operating room nurse. I
believe I am qualified for critical care pay since I am proficient in three specialties. I am able
to do any surgical case that is put in my room within my cysto, plastics or pediatrics
specialties. I do not require a preceptor in any of my cases. I take call for all three of these
specialties and can act under stress.

 I document events that happen during the surgical case, any skin issues that were
present or occur during surgery, and keep track of people who come in and out of the
room.
 I make sure patient safety is always first by doing handoff reports with pre-op to make
sure we have the right patient, in the room with anesthesia to confirm all information
regarding the surgery again with the patient still awake. I also always make sure my
patient is secure to the bed to make sure not extremities or the patient fall off the bed.
 While my patients are sleeping I advocate for any of their needs, such as the room being
too cold and the temperature needing to be turned up.
 I stock up the pediatric carts and do out dates on materials.

 I would document patient behavior notes, percentage of food that was ate and fluid intake. I
would also document ADL care.
 At the beginning of every shift I would take vitals and every so many hours as they were
ordered. If vitals were not in normal range I would notify my nurse.
 I assisted with restorative care by helping my patients practice walking down the hallway
with their walkers.

 Participate in weekly meetings in person and come up with interventions on how to
prevent patient falls.
 Helped identity weak areas and reason for falls by making observations about patient
care and if shortage of CNA and nurses played a role.
Professional and Development Committee, Inova Fairfax Hospital
 Meet every first Wednesday for in person meetings to discuss what we can do to help
people achieve professional development in our work area.
 Help individuals with climbing the clinical latter by showing them what they need to do,
giving them the paper work and setting them up with who they need to be precepted by
or need to precept.
 Also, look over an individual’s binder to make sure they have all the correct documents
to turn in to be assessed to advance though the clinical ladder.
