Lesson 1. The White Bird

1. Why do you think the peasants created the white wooden bird?

The peasants live in an environment where it experiences below normal

temperature that made the survivability of such animals like the bird, very low.

With this cause, the peasants were having a hard time to see the beauty of a real

white bird wandering around. Due to that, they crafted a symbolism, or we may

say it, a replica of the white bird using bars pinewood so that it will compensate

the distress of not having it around because of the cold environment that killed

the poor birds.

2. Do you agree with the statement “Nature is thought of as a garden, or a view

framed by a window…”? Why or why not? Explain your answer.

Nature is thought of as a garden or a view framed by a window is

agreeable. Nature is mostly perceived as a place where natural things are

present, or simply saying, the place where we can experience all things that were

not man-made. When we say a view framed by a window, it states that the world

is slowly changing as time passes due to the artificial activities where it degrades

the world’s original landscape, slowly removing the chance to experience the

original world.

3. Write your insights about paragraph 19. What does the white wooden bird

symbolize?
In paragraph 19, the white wooden bird symbolizes that there was a real

bird that existed but nowhere to be found as a result of the nature being

disrupted by the rampancy of man-made activities which changed the unique

state of the world’s nature.
