SC junks ABS-CBN’s plea vs NTC’s cease and desist order

MANILA, Philippines – The Supreme Court has dismissed the petition filed by media giant
ABS-CBN challenging the cease and desist order issued by the National
Telecommunications Commission.

High Court’s Public Information Chief and Spokesperson Atty. Brian Keith Hosaka
announced that the petition was dismissed on the ground of mootness.

Sen. Angara urges digitization of PhilHealth records

MANILA, Philippines – Senator Sonny Angara urged the Philippine Health Insurance
Corporation (PhilHealth) to strengthen its database system through the digitization of
records.

Angara said that through digitization, PhilHealth can bolster its anti-fraud
mechanisms as part of the ongoing efforts to rid the institution of wastage due to
corruption and inefficient systems.

LeBron James described 2020 as the worst year of his life on Saturday, with the
Los Angeles Lakers superstar losing two of his black heroes just seven months apart.

James honored actor Chadwick Boseman prior to the Lakers game five first-round
playoff contest against Portland by folding his arms across his chest in the Wakanda
salute from the Black Panther movie.

Boseman, star of the ground-breaking superhero blockbuster, died at the age of


43 this week after a battle with cancer. His death comes seven months after former Laker
icon Kobe Bryant died in a helicopter crash.

LTO upgrades automated tracking of drivers’ violations

MANILA, Philippines – The Land Transportation Office (LTO) said it has improved the
Land Transportation Management System (LTMS) and the Driver Education Program
(DEP) by using an online management system for efficient monitoring of violations and
penalties in relation to the application for a driver’s license.

LTO said the online system, with the help of German technology firm Dermalog,
will also determine the validity of motorists’ 10-year driver’s license.

An Italian Hospital said in Monday he had innoculated a first volunteer with an

anti Covid-19 vaccine as part of human trials expected to last 6 months.

The women, in ther 50s, received the first dose developed by Rome-based biotech

company ReiThera at the capital's Spallanzani Institute for infectious diseseas
