SEPAROMAT® ASTA 600/800
3 Method of Operation 3.1-1
3.1 Whole Machine (Principle)

The ASTA 600/800 removes heavy particles from

the air material flow. Particle removal is
improved by a uniform material stream.

The air and material stream enters the

separation trunk (I) via the upper channel (1)
and strikes baffle plate (4) Heavy particles are
removed here from the lighter fibres by the
negative acceleration and the force of gravity.

The lower channel (2) generates an upward

air stream in the area of the baffle plate which
guides the fibres to the outlet (3).
This process is enhanced by the position of
the window (5).

The heavy particles drop down into the trunk

with closing flap (II) and are discharged into
the waste bag (7) in the waste trunk (III) every
15 to 30 minutes by opening the flap (6).

The separation processes in the ASTA 800

take place under defined aerodynamic
conditions [→ 6.2-1]

The ASTA 800 does have a separate controller.

It is controlled automatically by the Electrical
Control System EGS or the Electronic
Installation Control EAS.

6 Maintenance 6.1-1
6.1 Important Note

• Service, Maintenance and Lubricaiton

All these operaitons are necessary in order to ensure proper operation over a long
period of time. They also serve to maintain the reliability and service life of this
machine.

Carry out all service, maintenance and lubrication operations only with the
machine at standstill and secured to prevent unauthorised starting.

After all service, maintenance and repair work, ensure that all protection devices
and guards are reinstalled correctly.

Collect used oil in an enviromentally safe manner. Remove excess oil and
grease at lubrication points or machine parts on completion of the lubrication
work. Wipe up any oil or grease from the floor immediately.

→ See also chapter II “SAFETY PRECAUTIONS” !

• Repairs

Carry out all repairs only with the machine at standstill and secured to prevent
unauthorised starting.

Have repairs carried out only by qualified specialists using original Trumac
spare parts. Never try to carry out repairs for which you are not sufficiently
experienced.

After all repair work, ensure that all protection devices and guards are reinstalled
correctly.

6.2 Setting Operations

6.2.1 Adjusting the Baffle Plate

- Read off the differential pressure at the

differential pressure gauge (1)

- Find the baffle plate setting corresponding

to the differential pressure and optimum
volumetric flow from the graph.

Optimum volumetric flow

— for ASTA 600 = 3.000 m3 /h
— for ASTA 800 = 5.000 m3/h

The baffle plate setting is dependent on:

- The air volume at the outlet from the ASTA

600/800 (optimum volumetric flow)
- The differential pressure between inlet and
outlet (is read off at the differential pressure
gauge)

The narrower the baffle plate setting, the higher is

normally the separation rate. With high throughput
rates, a wider setting must be chosen to avoid
clogging.
The baffle plate (2) is correctly set when heavy particles are
separated and drop down into the waste trunk and fibres
are transported to the outlet (3).

Differential pressure [Pa]

Example:
A throughput of 2.600m 3 /h is to be
operated.
The differential pressure read off however,
Differential pressure [Pa]

is 18 Pa corresponding to 2.100 m3/h.

Measures:
— Increase the speed of the fan
and thus the differential pressure, or
— Retract the baffle plate
