History (Historia)

Knowledge is acquired through inquiry and investigation. History was focused about wars and revolution
and other important breakthrough. It includes events that changed peoples live and had a significant
impact on a country.

History progressed and opened up to the possibility of valid historical sources which were not limited to
written documents.

Artifacts - Manmade object shows the way of life and situation of a group of people during the particular
era.

Fossil - any preserved body part, increment or impression of any organism that lived in the distant past.

Historiography is the history of history it is the writing of history based on critical examination,
evaluation and selection of materials in primary and secondary sources.

How was a certain historical text unwritten? Who wire it? What was the concept of this publication?

Importance of history

Lessons from the past can be used to make sense of the present.

Learning of the past mistakes can help people to repeat them

Being reminded of a great past can inspire people to keep their good practices to move forward.

History is always subjective, have your own interpretation. Influence among others.

Historical methodology it compares certain techniques and rules that historians follow in order to
properly utilize sources and historical evidences in writing history.

Historical Sources

Primary- participants or witnesses, materials produced by people or groups directly involved in the
event or topic being studied. Eyewitness accounts, diaries, letters, legal documents and official
documents and even photographs.

Example. Maps- generally used to indicate locations. Paintings and other art works are visual
representation.

Secondary Sources - are sources which were produced by an author who used primary sources to
produce the material. Stories of people who are not directly present to the event.

Historians should conduct an external and internal criticism of the source especially primary sources
which can age in centuries.
