Power of Colors

The purpose of today’s presentation is to tell you about power of colors. Colors are
everywhere and they affect our visuals and perceptions. Color psychology suggests
that colors can have a powerful impact on our moods and even behaviors. To say
more about that, a study found that employees in blue offices tended to complain
that it was too cold. However, when the same offices were painted peach,
employees felt warmer even though the actual temperature never changed. You
may ask, how could something as simple as just color really affect us that much?
Well, It’s because of our brain. Every color evokes a different and unique
emotional and physical response. Generally, brighter shades of color raise more
energetic feelings while darker shades feel more relaxing.

Let’s look at the meaning of each color. Each color has its own effect.

- Orange is the color of energy, enthusiasm and happiness. It can be used to

bring an attention to something.
- Yellow is a similar to orange. It also means energy and attention. But also
yellow color is the color of warmth and brightness
- Green is the color of neither safety nor envy. But usually green is the color
of luck and nature.
- Purple is a rich color. It associates with wealth and royalty but also mystery
and imagination.
- Blue color means sadness and calmness. It’s the color of stability and
productivity.
- Red is a very expressive color. It means power, passion, love, anger and
danger.

(I have a little test for you. So, I have two pictures with different colors. Please
pick the picture that feels more threatening. If you pick red, that’s probably
because red is often processed as danger in our minds.).

It’s important to know how color influence on a person cause colors matter in
marketing and advertising. A product’s color can convince us that it tastes fresher
than the same product with a different color. Power of colors isn’t just about
evoking certain emotions. It’s about using colors to meet consumers’ expectations
for products and brands. Some colors are bad for certain products and can pull
consumers away or cause confusion. So it is important to found suitable color for
product and brand.

That concludes my presentation. The ways colors influence our perceptions of the
world aren’t always obvious or logical but they have a huge impact on people. And
the more we work with color in mind, the easier it will become to convey unique
branding message to our audience.
