Joshua - lead Israelites into PL Canaan

           He splitted the Jordan River
Why did God not lead them Egypt-Canaan the shorter way? He was afraid
that they got disheartened by fighting with the Philistines and not believe in
God
      -if they did win over the Philistines, they would think they were good w/o
God
Prostitute: b/c God treats Israelites as His Bride, so if they worship other
idols they were considered prostitute unfaithful to God
