1. Explain the similarities and/or differences of a church, denominations, sect, and cult.
Similarities and/or Differences of a church and denomination
The church doesn’t accept other faiths whereas denomination doesn’t claim tobe the
only version of the religious truth. They Bth have formal hierarchis and have full
commitment from their members.

Similarities and/or Differences of a church and sects


Both of them believe they have monopoly of truth, but churches are larger
organizations whereas sects tends to be smaller. The church has formal hierarchy paid
officials but sects only have one charismatic leader. With sects, members are expected to
withdraw from society whereas the church doesn’t make it’s members do that.

Similarities and/or Differences of a denomination and sects


They have similarities and the only thing that sect would have to change to be
denominations is to have proper formal hierarchies to replace one charismatic leader.

Cult’s characteristics that differs from other organizations


Cults are disorganized and not structured so they quickly disappear.

2. Discuss the importance of the separation of Church and State in a democratic country like
the Philippines.
Since Philippines is a democratic country, citizens can freely express their own
opinions and beliefs were sometimes based on the religion where they belong. The
separation of Church and State is necessary in a democratic country. Not everyone has the
same beliefs according by religion and laws implemented should not be biased.
