The Overview:

The overview is a short, attention-grabbing introduction to the instructional material.

Ordinarily, a text-based overview can do the job, however, a short video to give an overview of the
instructional material, its purpose, and expectations will be good for this as well. This is a good
place to trigger the students’ prior knowledge and experience.

The Lecture-Videos which we are tasked to create can be placed here. Thus, these videos
we will create should be an “Introduction to the Subject” video.

The Learning Objectives:

Learning objectives are a set of goals that you intend your readers to achieve after reading
and comprehending particular instructional material. These objectives are listed at the beginning
of each lesson and are normally introduced by statements such as: “After successful completion
of this lesson, you should be able to:”

Course Materials:

These are materials that will be provided for students to facilitate and/or demonstrate the learning.
These can include reading materials, videos, samples or examples, case studies, simulations, etc.
These materials are added to the course in the order that the course specialist wants students to
use them. Brief guidance, as needed, should be provided. In PUP’s case, these should be based
on the OBE Course Guides that have been created.

Activities/Assessments:

This is the part where the learners get to apply the knowledge they have acquired from the
module. Needless to say, these activities and assessments must be based on the learning
objectives of the instructional material. More so, it would be best to include opportunities for
students to interact with each other when doing the activities or some of the assignments.

Overview:

The word entrepreneur is derived from the French words entre, meaning “between” and
prendre, meaning “to take.” The word was originally used to describe people who “take on the
risk” between buyers and sellers or who “undertake” a task such as starting a new venture. An
entrepreneur assembles and then integrates all the resources needed—the money, the people,
the business model, the strategy, and the risk-bearing ability—to transform an idea or an invention
into a viable business venture.

Learning Objectives:

After successful completion of this lesson, you should be able to:

 Describe entrepreneurship
 Identify who an entrepreneur is
 Describe how entrepreneurship is beneficial to the economy

Course Materials:

What is meant by entrepreneurship? The concept of entrepreneurship was first

established in the 1700s, and the meaning evolved ever since. Many simple equate it with starting
one’s own business. Most economists believe it is more than that. (continued…..)
