Field Observation Assignment # 1 Part 2

Culture of Classroom, Kinder Class, Ms. D. Hernandez

1. The teacher expects students to cooperate with each lesson, teacher encourages by letting

each student know that there are no wrong answers, they are to try. When students

answer incorrectly teacher uses recall to get them to try again, teacher praises students

who answer correctly.

2. The level of student participation is high. Mostly the girls participate more than the boys.

There is also a good level of parent participation among the students, with both moms

and dads assisting the students.

3. The teacher uses both encouragement, and praise to connect with students. When students

become distracted or tired, teacher acknowledges student feelings and assures them that

the classroom setting will move to the next subject to re-engage students. Teachers is

bilingual, and communicates with parents who ESL, to explain lessons, to assist these

parents so that they can assist their children. The teacher personality is very upbeat and

engaging.

4. There is no student-to-student contact, as the class is virtual. Most of the student contact

is with either teacher, or parents.
