Advantages/Disadvantages of Virtualization

Virtualization is the product of many years of constant improvement in construction and

programming skills, helping to lay the foundation for yet more complex machines and
procedures. With such a quick advance into new and interesting fields, there are always going
to be some drawbacks, however here are some of the advantages of the increasing reach of
virtualization: More Uptime, Reduction of Workload, Cost Effective, and Rapid Deployment of
Resources. Each of these advantages are made possible by the theory that virtualization runs
off of, and that is through the use of completely online resources and very limited physical
assets, businesses and business minded individuals should be able to grow and maintain their
operations at quicker speeds with greatly increased accuracy.

Some of the disadvantages of this technology are the following: Security Risks, Limited
Resources, Access to Data. Although the advancement of technology usually means great
improvement in the lives of those who use them, these avances do come with some problems.
As stated above, these problems are created by the very same means with which virtualization
has been able to spread so quickly. Because their data is based on online servers, or other
forms of online storage, and the access to this information is controlled by outside entities,
businesses could find themselves in deep trouble should they be unable to access their
information and compete in their industries. Also with so many assets online, the drive to break
into company databases has never been higher, prompting certain people to create more
effective malicious code, to glean extremely valuable information, as well as to carry out
corporate espionage
