INTRODUCTION

Who has never been enchanted with the image of CRISTO REDENTOR with open arms
observing the Wondeful City on top of the Corcovado hill? CRISTO REDENTOR is the
largest Art Deco-style statue in the world, standing 38 meters high and weighing more
than 1000 tons.

It’s the most popular Christ in the world, it’s recognized as one of the new seven
wonders of the modern world. CRISTO ENCORCOVADO is one of the most important
tourist attractions in Brazil and, for believers, a place of pilgrimage.

LOCATION

CRISTO REDENTOR is located in the city of Rio de Janeiro, one of the largest cities in
Brazil, it’s bigger than Sao Paulo. This city is very extensive, it’s located in a territory
that was once wild, mountainous and with much vegetation as in the heart of the city
of Rio. The Corcovado is the steep mountain on top of which the CRISTO REDENTOR
was implanted, one simply has to look up to see it, it’s like the Eiffel Tower in Paris, you
cannot not find it, it’s very easy. But getting there is complicated and the most
traditional way is by train.

CONSTRUCTION

It's the newest wonder in the world, it emerged in 1921, in the framework of
commemoration for the hundred years of independence of Brazil. Five years later the
work of more than a thousand tons of reinforced cement would begin, it’s stronger
than any other construction material and which combines engineering, architecture
and sculpture. Today, Christ the Redeemer is smaller than the obelisk of Buenos Aires
under construction, but its 700 meters high, makes it the most famous panoramic
viewpoint in Brazil and the most photographed Rio de Janeiro icon by tourists visiting
that country.

¿Quién nunca se encantó con la imagen del Cristo Redentor, con los brazos abiertos
observando la Ciudad Maravillosa encima del cerro del Corcovado? El Cristo
Redentor es la estatua más grande del estilo Art Déco del mundo, con 38 metros de
altura y con un peso de más de 1000 toneladas.
Es el Cristo más popular del mundo, es reconocida como una de las nuevas siete
maravillas del mundo moderno junto a Machu Picchu, la Gran Muralla China, el
Coliseo de Roma, etc. El Cristo del Corcovado es uno de los atractivos turísticos más
importantes de Brasil y, para los creyentes, un lugar de peregrinación.
LOCALIZACIÓN
Cristo Redentor se encuentra en la ciudad de Río, una de las ciudades más grandes
de Brasil, más grande que Sao Paulo. Esta ciudad es muy extensa, se encuentra en
un territorio que una vez fue salvaje, montañoso y con mucha vegetación como en el
corazón de la ciudad de Río. El Corcovado es la montaña empinada en la cima de la
cual se implantó el Cristo Redentor, uno simplemente debe mirar hacia arriba para
verlo, es como la Torre Eiffel en París, no se puede no encontrarlo, es muy fácil. Pero,
para llegar allí, es complicado. La manera más tradicional es por el tren turístico que
ha sido fabricado para su salida en el barrio de Cosme Velho y su llegada en el este
de la montaña. 
CONSTUCCIÓN
Es la maravilla más nueva del mundo, surgió en 1921, en el marco de conmemoración
por los cien años de independencia de Brasil. Cinco años después comenzaría la obra
de más de mil toneladas de cemento armado que es más fuerte que cualquier otro
material de construcción y que combina ingeniería, arquitectura y escultura y que
llamativamente, dadas las características del proyecto y la época de su construcción,
no se cobró ninguna vida durante su ejecución. Hoy en día, el Cristo Redentor es más
pequeño que el obelisco de Buenos Aires en construcción, pero sus 700 metros de
altura, hace que sea el mirador panorámico más famoso de Brasil y el ícono carioca
más fotografiado por los turistas que visitan ese país.
