Changes were implemented to the SNAP paper pattern consecutively in 2018 and 2019. Hence, no major changes in the
paper pattern are expected this year. However, Symbiosis can still throw in a surprise. The expected paper pattern for
SNAP 2020 is given below:
There is no sectional time limit and although SNAP administrators don't mention anything about sectional cut-offs, it is
advisable to not score negatively in any section. There is a penalty of 1/4th of the allotted marks for every wrong answer.
SNAP 2019
Several changes were implemented to the SNAP Paper pattern in 2019, with respect to the marking scheme and number
of special questions. The number of special questions were cut down from 20 to 5. Marks per question were increased
from 1 to 1.5. Despite the changes the overall di culty level of the paper was relatively easier than SNAP 2018. This also
re ected in the form of higher cut offs for SNAP 2019.

The overall cut-off for SIBM Pune was 98.2 and for SCMHRD was around 97.5 percentile.
SNAP 2018
There was a change in the paper pattern with the advent of SNAP 2018. Special questions (Non MCQ type questions)
were introduced and the total number of questions reduced to 130 from 150. But the change did not add to the di culty
level of the paper. Overall, the di culty level of SNAP 2018 was much lower than SNAP 2017.

SIBM Pune did not release the o cial cut offs for SNAP 2018. However, the overall cut off percentile is estimated at
97.4. Similarly, the overall cut off percentile for SCMHRD is estimated at 97.6.
SNAP 2017
SNAP 2017 was similar in to SNAP 2016 in terms of the paper pattern. However, the type of questions differed
signi cantly from last few years. The English and GK sections became much tougher. LR continued its trend of
incomprehensible question types and Quant turned out to be more di cult than previous years. Overall, the paper had a
higher di culty level in comparison to the preceding years.

SNAP 2016
SNAP in 2016 underwent major paper pattern changes, compared to previous years.
(i) Share of questions in the reasoning section were increased from 30 to 40 and alternately, marks per question for this
section were reduced from 2 to 1.
(ii) The total marks were reduced from 180 to 150
(iii) General Awareness section was revamped and renamed 'Current Affairs'. It was speci ed that static GK questions
will not be a part of this section anymore and the section will only encompass the last two years' current affairs.
(iv) The number of questions were reduced to 30 from the earlier gure of 40 for the Current Affairs Section.

The overall cut-off for SCMHRD was 97.1385 percentile.

Earlier, the reasoning section used to account for 1/3rd of the total score (60 out of 180), which demanded a lot of
importance for this section, and it acted like a major percentile booster. But, from 2016, the weightage in total marks
given to Reasoning and other sections was balanced, which ensured that all the sections contributed equally toward the
overall score.
SNAP 2015
SNAP 2015 was deemed to be signi cantly higher on the di culty spectrum than its earlier counterparts. The General
Awareness section especially troubled most of the aspirants. The Logical Reasoning section also was an aberration, as
it contained very unusual and unexpected questions. But, the 2016 paper was somewhat back on track.

SNAP 2014
The overall di culty level of the exam did not vary much from that of the previous SNAP exams'. The General English
section was a tad tougher than before.

The overall cut-off for SCMHRD was 96.0069 percentile.
In SNAP 2018, a score of around 74 was enough to get shortlisted for SIBM Pune. But, in 2019, a score as high as 85
fetched the candidates a shortlist call from the coveted Symbiosis Institute. This is because the exam paper of 2019
was relatively easier than SNAP 2018. The SNAP 2019 paper was more on the lines of exam papers before SNAP 16.
With SNAP 2019 there was yet again a change in the structure of the paper. The change increased the weightage of the
General English and Reasoning section while removing the of Current Affairs section from the paper.
It is important that candidates develop a test taking strategy that helps them best utilize their time and maximize their
score. Taking ample mock exams, as per the updated pattern, will ensure that a candidate is able to devise a strategy
which is most suited to him/her.
Note: The cut-offs mentioned are for the agship MBA programs of SIBM and SCMHRD.
