Academic writing is a kind of writing wherein broad information is being fleshed into specific details, and

those details may be used as evidence for a person’s piece of writing. It is also a kind of writing that is
taking away the personal take of the writer on his/her compositions, briefly saying the work must be
objective, it must be factual, ideas should be stated straight to the point and it must use formal
language.

Learning the subject, English for Academic and Professional Purposes is a must for every student,
because through learning this subject we will learn the mechanics or even the dos and don'ts in writing a
research article, reports, essays, etc. which are works that are being required among us, students before
we finish our studies.

As an addition, also through learning the concepts in EAP we will know how to come up with a kind of
writing that will be of relevance to the topic given to us, with consideration on the type of audience to
whom pour writing will be addressed to and the reason why we come up with such kind of writing.
