The venue for the first technical session was Awadh Auditorium. The
session was chaired by Dr. P. Tripathi from IGNOU and Ms. Kiran of
Central University of Jammu. A number of presenters from various
universities of Delhi and neighbouring states participated enthusiastically
and presented their research papers on very important themes such as ICT

education and empowering teachers’ competencies through ICT use. The
participants either read out the paper or gave a power point presentation. The
house was then opened for the Question Answer session. Dr. Tripathi
introduced the audience to the use of ICT in Open Distance Learning (ODL)
as well as to MOODLE software. The rapporteurs for the sessions were
students of B.Ed department. The technical session I was followed by a
lunch break.
Day 2 of the seminar began with a briefing of the proceedings of Day I. The
highlight of the day was an interactive talk given by Dr. Amit Ahuja
(University School of Education, GGSIPU). He stressed upon the integration
of the variety of available software in the educational domain along with the
judicious use of social networking sites. He also emphasized upon the
creative use of various mobile applications such as Whatsapp. The talk was
appreciated by all. It was then followed by Technical Session III which was
chaired by Professor Ilyas Hussain (Department of Education, Jamia Millia
Islamia) and Dr. Amit Ahuja. A series of papers were presented on the
related seminar theme. Many queries from the audience were catered to
during the question answer session. Professor Hussain concluded and
moderated the session by pointing out the intricate technicalities associated
with the usage of powerpoint. He condemned the way in which powerpoint
is making the teachers handicapped, however, he also suggested innovative
ways to use powerpoint effectively.
This Two-Day Seminar was thus, successful in touching upon some of the
key issues associated with the technology integration in the contemporary
educational environment, and helping the participants imbibe few skills out
of the myriad of available technological opportunities.
