B. SELF-EXPRESSION
Directions: Write your thoughts freely on the following items.
1. How do you define art?
As a person who loves art, I define art as a form of communication not just to the people but also
to the world, a universal language to be precise. Through art I can express my ideas, feelings I have inside
and my observations without further explanations and just by making other people wonder what is the real
story behind the art I created. Art is what you make others see in your own creation. Art is too important
especially because it speaks where words are being unable to explain. It is something that is uniquely
beautiful and meaningful at the same time.
2. As a student, how can you say that art is valuable?
As a student, I can say that art is valuable especially because it is a great storyteller not just me but
to the other world. It has opened my eyes to different perspectives and has helped me a lot recognizing
things that I do have in common with other people around me. Art is valuable especially because through
this I learned to find and appreciate beauty of life.

3. How will you differentiate art history from art appreciation?

Art history is set on stone for involvement in different era, century or past of those known and
unknown artist. It is the study of evolution of some artistic forms and ideas in different cultures across the
time. It involves a layout that explains the origin of an art or where does a certain art originated. While on
the other hand, art appreciation considers the way people do look at a certain art. Someone who appreciates
the art that was created by an individual. It is an exploration of the nature of an art, the different techniques
have been used, the materials and also the ideas formed.

2. Choose two (2) Definitions of Art from different Artists then elaborate it.
 Art is not what you see but you make others see- Geogia O’Keeffe
- It is not the quality that the artists put into his art but what the viewers gets out of it. It is the
ability of an artist to open the eye of its viewers and to take them to a journey using his
creation. But most importantly, is to touch their hearts and lives using your own
masterpiece.

 Art is a lie that helps us to realize the truth - Pablo Picasso

- Art is an illusion but it can teach us the real truth behind the things we see in ourselves and
to our world. Because when artist create an art it does speaks out their own point of view,
but then again it is up to the viewer’s way of interpretation what is true for them.
