To enable you to take full ‘Advantage of this enhanced performance, we are pleased to enclose a set of ROMS to upgrade your instrument, This upgrade is also necessary to enable the 160A/105 or 260/205 Waveform Processor, the 102 or 103A Interfaces and the 1028 or 103B interfaces to work to full specification, Faull instructions are enclosed to enable you to upgrade your instru- ment. Contents ‘The kit contains the following items; ‘Manual Amendment Sheet Instruction Sheet 460402 Programmed OTPROM U2 48093X or 48116X Latest Version (1600/1624) Programmed EPROM U29 48092X or 48117X Latest Version (1600/1624) Programmed OTPROM US/U7 48094X__Latest Version (102/103A/102B/103B) Programmed EPROM U2 48055X Latest Version (260) Programmed EPROM U2 48056X Latest Version (160A) NB. X in the above numbers means the latest number in the sequence. 2. Main instrument ‘Two latest version programmed ROMS are supplied, 48116X & 48117X (V3.5X) or 48093X & 48092X (V4.5X). ‘These require fitting to the main printed circuit board assem- bly located within the main instrument. Itis important that the new software first digit, 3 or 4, matches the existing software in the oscilloscope. Please proceed as follows, on the main instrument: #) With all the power and inputs disconnected from the instrument, remove the screws retaining the top cover. (2 on each side and 2 at the back.) b) Base the cover backwards until the front edge has disengaged from the moulded trim Surround. Gently lift the front edge of the cover until the plotter connecting cable can be seen and readily unplugged from the main printed circuit board, This is positioned towards the back right hand comer of the board adjacent to U29, ©) Remove the socketed ROMs marked U2 and U29 replacing them with the latest version devices supplied, Check carefully that they are fitted with the correct oriemtation in the correct loca- tions. NOTE: The new ROMs should not be removed from their protective packs until actually required. Handle with care and when fitting ensure thatthe pins are not bent @) Refit the top cover carefully plugging in the plotter as itis lowered into place, Part No.460402 Page 2 0f 3= GOULD Electronics 3. 160/260 Waveform Processor, 105/205 Memory Module If you have the Waveform Processor accessory, the latest version ROMs supplied should be fitted to the interface module which attaches to the back of the set, For the 160A fit the 48056X ROM and for the 260 fit the 48055X ROM 8) Disconnect the pod from the back of the instrument b) Carefully unserew the four retaining screws on the back of the pod and remove. The Printed circuit assembly can now be pulled away. ©) Remove the socketed ROM marked U2 and Teplace it with new version supplied, Check carefully thatit is fitted with the correct orientation, 4) Re-assemble the pod ensuring that the four screws are not over tightened, Reconnect the accessory to the rear of the instrument, fe 10 RS423, 103A IEBE-488, 102B RS423 or 1038 IEEE-488 Interface If you have one of these accessories, the latest version ROM. Supplied should be fitted to the interface module. The ROM supplied (48094X), with software at 4 5X oon be fitted to any interface even though this may mean changing from a 3.5X version on a 102 e¢ 103A. Although version 4.5x is fully backwards compatible, itis not explicitly shown as such on the compatibility chart 8) Disconnect the pod from the back of the instrument b) Carefully remove the four screws which secure the back of the module, ©) Pull the back moulding away together with the printed circuit board, @) Remove the socketed ROM marked US for the IEEE interface, or U7 for the RS423 interface, and replace with the latest version device supplied. Check carefully that it is fitted with the correct orientation, ©) Re-assemble the interface ensuring thatthe four screws are not over tightened, Re- Connect the accessory to the rear of the instrument 5. Test To check out the update, reconnect the power supply and switch on while holding down the “Plot” and “Hold On” butions. This will initialize the instrument with the new software, The bottom line of the display will now indicate: “Version 4.56" or “Version 4.56 + Keypad X.55” or similer message depending on whether or not a waveform processor interface is fitted. NOT * All set-ups will be lost when the software is initialized on the first power up. 6.
